I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
The Jewish leaders could never figure the Lord out. They could not understand why He spent time and socialized with the down-and-outers. Jesus’ response was simple. It’s our verse today. The Lord’s heart went out to those in need, to the poor, to the sick, to those who were spiritually starving. And He met that need, just as He meets it today by bringing hope to the hopeless, and joy to those who are cast down. Come to Jesus. You’ll never be the same again.
