Saving the Child

A regiment of the Guards carried a little child of six from Mons to the gates of Paris during the retreat. When one man tired of the burden another took the child, and so, before Paris was reached, every man had done his part to save and protect the little one.
Moody once said to a dying soldier on a battlefield, “I wish I could take you in my arms and carry you into the Kingdom of God.” We must all work together this year to carry the dear soldiers we love so well in our arms of love right up to the gates of heaven. We must all share in the work — then we shall all partake in the joy when the saved ones we have helped to bring to heaven meet us on those golden shores. Fellowship in service must be ours this year; then the blessing of God will rest in fuller, deeper measure upon all we do. “And whatsoever ye do, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
