The pretty picture on the front page of our paper makes us think of how much we enjoy a walk through the woods in the springtime. How we love to pick a handful of the pretty wildflowers and bring them home. Did you ever stop to think, children, of all these different flowers growing out of the same ground. They are red, blue, white and yellow, as well as many other colors. They are all different shapes and sizes, and God has made each one of them “as it pleased Him”.
Then we look up at the great trees, and can see the little buds bursting out into large leaves, which give us such nice cool shade on the hot days during the summer time. I wonder if you thank God for all these wonderful things, instead of just taking them thoughtlessly for your own pleasure, and forgetting the God who made them all.
When we begin to think about trees, it reminds us of a tree that was cut down one day, about two thousand years ago, and from it was made a cross on which the Lord Jesus the Son of God was crucified. Cruel men put nails into His hands and feet, and cried “Away with Him”, Can you tell me why God allowed men to use one of His own trees for such a terrible purpose? Will tell you why it was. It was because the loved sinners, yes even the very men who nailed Him to the cross, and the only way they, or any of us can be saved, is by accepting the Lord Jesus as our own personal Saviour. Have you done this? If not He is willing to save you today. Are you willing to let Him?
