Ought not Christ to have suffered these things?
There was none other good enough
To pay the price of sin.
He only could unlock the gate of heaven,
And let us in.
He had to suffer. Christ died for our sins. He didn’t have any. But God put ours on Him and punished Him as if He had done them Himself. Terrible suffering. But He had to suffer - to win His bride.
The depth of all Thy suffering
No heart can e’er conceive.
