The waters compassed me about . . . the weeds were wrapped about my head.
Jonah, the runaway prophet, went through a terrifying experience. First, he was thrown overboard during a terrific storm at sea. Then he was swallowed by a humongous fish and spent three days and three nights inside the fish, heading back to land. But during that experience Jonah said some things that were prophetic of what the Lord Jesus would feel when He suffered at the hand of God during the three hours of darkness on Calvary’s cross. The Lord felt like He was at the bottom of the ocean with the weeds holding Him down. The punishment He endured for you and me was indescribable. Let’s thank Him today very specially for dying for us and being willing to bear the punishment that we deserved.
