And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
Once Satan starts a temptation, he continues until the one who is tempted either gives in or crushes the temptation and the tempter through the Lord’s power. So Joseph is constantly harassed by his master’s wife, but he keeps the Lord as his constant standard and refuses all advances. He does not give the slightest little crack of an entrance for Satan to get an advantage. We must also guard ourselves with the same carefulness. It is easier to keep Satan out than it is to push him back out after he has once come into our lives. Keep the guard up!
