We are getting now about one thousand applications from French soldiers for Testaments every week. They are eager for God’s word. The demand from English soldiers is still increasing. We send about ten thousand Testaments every month to our soldiers and sailors. Please pray that God will bless exceedingly this circulation of His Word. It is the greatest need of the world today. Our post-cards are found in all manner of places. A private writes me “After making a raid on, some German trenches, I picked up the enclosed post-card, and, having lost my Testament, I am wring to ask for another if you would kindly give it me. — Pte. I.’Cā.”
A doctor writes to me: “One of my boys in my Bible Class before going into battle wrote me: ‘The dearest treasure have is your little New Testament, which I always carry with me and read whenever I have an opportunity.’ He was killed soon after.” Oh! the priceless value of the Word of God. We must send, and send, and send, until every soldier has had the offer of one for his pocket. Some, alas! refuse, but the majority eagerly accept. Read this letter sent to me lately:ā
