15. Even as it is the sentence of God against all that is carnal in the world. "For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." (1 Cor. 2:22For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:2).) This to the apostles was connected with the mystery of wisdom, which (ver. 8) none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
I learn here that if carnality or worldliness in any shape is marring testimony for Christ, as leaven working to fill the whole lump, the way to meet it is by a reference to the cross-Christ degraded in death for us-whereby, as it were, God has most lovingly yet deeply expressed His abhorrence of our old man altogether.
