For of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, whom Thou hast anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together.
There is nothing like trouble to draw a crowd when people are idle. Therefore, it may be that following the crowd would mean that you are always where the trouble is. Both Jew and Gentile, political and religious leaders gathered together in the crowd that crucified Jesus. There is not always “safety in numbers.” People we look up to might draw us in the wrong way. That which we do in the crowd today may be hard to forget tomorrow. I wonder how many who were swept along in that murderous throng were smitten with regrets afterwards?
