The Great Trip

It is called a “great” trip because it is made only once. It is not a round trip, for there is no return. It takes a lifetime, and the trip from the cradle to the grave. You and I are on this trip.
Though there is only one trip, there are two routes. One of them is narrow, and the other is broad. Every person is traveling on one of these two roads. And there are two conductors on the lookout for travelers. The first is "the Son of Man" who is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:1010For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10).) He says: I am the way... no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. (John 14:66Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6).) Has He found you yet?
The second seeker is "the devil" who walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:88Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8).) He bitterly opposes all who are inclined to journey on the narrow road, annoying and persecuting those who are already traveling on it.
The broad road promises pleasure, but its agents hide the fact that it robs and murders its patrons. Shun it as you would a poisonous snake.
The narrow road is not always pleasant, but it is perfectly safe. And think of the grand terminal of this road! We read about it in the last two chapters of the Revelation. May the God of all grace grant that you and I may travel on this road to its happy end.
Read Deut. 30. It ends with these words: I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life.
