EVERY day now, thank God, we are receiving cards from French soldiers, asking for Testaments. Surely dear British soldiers who have found the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, Friend and Master, will rejoice with us! Mr. Levermore, writing in “The Christian” of March 15th says about a young French-soldier who exclaimed, “Is Jesus Christ alive?”: “How he devoured us with his eyes as we explained to him the truth of the Living Christ; it was a revelation!” This is quite true. Abroad, you may daily see in the thoroughfares, wharfs, or stations, huge Calvaries, which are enormous, uplifted figures of the dead. Christ — the crucified, dead Christ — or an image of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus in her arms; but scarcely ever is there allusion to the Living Lord Jesus, Who is alive for evermore, Who rose again from the dead to prove He is the. Son of God; the God-Man Who will save all who believe on Him. Yes, this is what we want to teach the dear French soldiers: that Jesus Christ is living, living and ready to save and help each one who will come to Him.
Dear readers, help them to come by giving them God’s Word; they are beseeching us for Testaments. Oh, help us to send them!!
