The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven  .  .  .  with the voice of the archangel.
The voice of archangel seems to apply to the deceased Old Testament saints among the nation of Israel. In the Bible, the archangel is often associated with the care and protection of believers of Israel (see Daniel 8:16; 9:2116And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. (Daniel 8:16)
21Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. (Daniel 9:21)
). This “voice of the archangel,” therefore, may be intended to awake Old Testament saints like David, Samuel and Elisha. In Hebrews 11:4040God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. (Hebrews 11:40) it is written, “That they without us [the Church] should not be made perfect.” These Old Testament believers will be raised up with us at the rapture, even though they are not part of the Church.
