The Lord’s Supper.
Take a minute to read 1 Corinthians 11:23-2823For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come. 27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. (1 Corinthians 11:23‑28). The Lord’s Supper is for the Lord’s people. Do you remember the Lord Jesus Christ as He asked you to do just before He died on the cross? Here are four important things to think about at the Lord’s Supper. First, we should briefly examine ourselves to be sure we are there with the right purpose (verses 27-28). Second, we should remember the whole body of Christ, represented by the unbroken loaf (verse 24). Third, we should remember the enormous sufferings of Christ on the cross represented by the broken loaf and cup of wine (verses 24-25). And fourth, we can also think about the Lord’s coming for us in the air (verse 26). This should be enough to fill our hearts for one hour each week.
