And [Jesus] took him aside . . . and touched his tongue.
Here we have a man who was deaf and with a speech defect. Jesus first separates him from the crowd. Then Jesus puts His fingers into his ears, spits, touches the man’s tongue and he is completely cured. The Lord’s touch on our ears will help us to listen to Him when He speaks to us. His touch on our tongue will help us to speak well of and for Him.
