"He calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out" (John 10:3).
"The sheep follow Him: for they know His voice. And a stranger will they not follow ... for they know not the voice of strangers" (John 10:4-5).
"I am the good Shepherd, and know My sheep ... and I lay down My life for the sheep" (John 10:14-15).
"My sheep hear my voice, and I KNOW THEM, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand" (John 10:27-28).
The Shepherd's voice, and a willing heart,
Is all that we need to know;
To hear His call, and obey His Word,
And follow as we should go.
The Shepherd's voice is a loving voice,
His sheep are His great delight;
His portion and joy in His people He finds,
And precious they are in His sight.
The voice of our Shepherd one day said,
"This do, in remembrance of Me,"
Just before He was nailed to that cruel cross,
Where He suffered such agony.
He suffered such anguish on Calv'ry's cross,
When our sins were upon Him laid;
When God's righteous judgment for sin He bore,
And atonement for us He made.
He would gather us ever around Himself,
And remind our hearts of His love;
And assure our souls that our sins are gone,
And He's living for us above.
"Peace be unto you," are His words to us,
He would ever give peace and rest
To His blood-bought sheep, whom He loveth so,
He desires that they lean on His breast.
Then may we remember our Shepherd's love,
May we thank Him for all He has done,
And praise and adore His most precious Name,
For the vict'ry for us, He has won.
"If any man will do His will, He shall know of the doctrine" (John 7:17).
"He shall feed His flock like a shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young" (Isaiah 40:11).
