"The Soil Is Not Dead Anyway"

We see in our picture a French peasant sowing the seed upon the battlefield. He knows that brave men lie underneath the soil. He knows it has to be scarred and rent by the storm and havoc of war; but he sows in faith, saying, as he scatters the grain, “The soil is not dead anyhow.” He teaches us a lesson of hope amid all the awful disappointments of this War. We must go on sowing the precious seed of the Word of God. The soil is not dead; wherever there is a living soul we can pray that the seed may be sown there, and if we sow in faith what mighty harvests we shall see!
Dear friends, you have helped us wonderfully in the past two and a half years; the need is greater now than ever. If you read the last page it will tell you how you can help. I ask you for your prayers.
HEYMAN WREFORD.
P. S. — A dear soldier writes: — “Would you kindly send me a Testament to fit my pocket, and I should be pleased if you would tell me bow I can lead a better life, and help me to Christ, please.”
