Before we look at some positive things that we are to follow, let us notice some negative things we are warned against following. We are told not to “follow a multitude to do evil” (Exodus 23:2), nor are we to “follow strong drink” (Isaiah 5:11), for in so doing we would certainly dishonor the Lord Jesus Christ.
What then are we to follow? The Bible tells us to “follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” Another scripture tells us that we are to “follow after charity [love].” The Apostle Paul wanted to “follow after” the Lord Jesus so that he could understand Him better.
Do you remember when Peter asked the Lord what it was that John was to do? The Lord told Peter, “What is that to thee? follow thou Me.” By prayer and obedience to God’s Word, we will follow after the things that are pleasing to Him.
