Thou Remainest

Heb. 1:11
THOUGH all things here may pass away
As like a fading flower,
Where beauty for a moment lasts,
All gone within an hour;
Our comfort is to know, O Lord,
In Thee no change is found,
For "Thou remainest," though we see
Decay in all around.
Thy hand has formed the heavens above,
And earth's foundations laid,
Thou art creation's Lord and God,
Thy hands all things have made.
But these are yet to pass away,
Beneath Thy judgment sore,
But "Thou remainest," and Thy years
Will last for evermore.
Those mighty orbs that float through space,
Will some day cease to be,
The earth will melt with fervent heat,
And all will pass away.
But, blessed Lord, our hearts rejoice,
And praise Thy holy name,
That "Thou remainest," yea, Thou art
For evermore "The Same."
When time has ceased to run its course,
The heavens and earth no more,
When Thy redeemed are safely brought
To heaven's eternal shore,
Still "Thou remainest," precious thought,
No change in Thee is known,
Thou art "The Same" while time endures,
"The Same" upon the throne.
