THOU Shepherd of the sheep,
God's well beloved Son,
From brightest glory came,—
The heaven's Beloved One;
Our hearts are glad, we praise Thy name,
The One through whom salvation came.
Thou didst our souls redeem,
With Thine own precious blood,—
Hast made our title sure,—
Hast brought us unto God.
To Thee in notes of sweetest praise,
Will songs ascend through endless days.
Thou didst on Calvary's cross,
God's wrath and judgment bear,
Didst drink the bitter cup,
That we Thy home might share,
With hearts made glad we raise the voice,
And in Thy wondrous love rejoice.
Thou livest now for us
At God's right hand above,
Our glorious Great High Priest,—
Thine heart is full of love;.
From Thee 0 Lord, we ne'er can part,
Our names are graven on Thine heart.
Ere long That Voice shall say,
My ransomed people, come,
And we shall soar away
To be with Thee at home;
Then, through those long eternal days,
Shall give Thee everlasting praise.
