Life is full of questions. The following are three questions that no one should leave unanswered.
Question 1: Does God exist?
Atheists and materialists would say, “No, only the things that can be measured or perceived somehow with the senses are real. God can’t be perceived with the senses, so He is not real.”
Part of what they say is true. You can’t see God. But this doesn’t mean He doesn’t exist. It only means that He is a spiritual being. He is not a physical part of the time/space universe. He is its Creator. He is far greater than anything He created. As you can know about a cause by studying its effects, so you can learn of the Creator by studying His creation. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth His handiwork” (Psalm 19:11<<To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.>> The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork. (Psalm 19:1)).
God does exist and those who deny His existence are without excuse. They should know this by looking at the beautiful world they live in. These things didn’t make themselves.
Question 2: Will men, women
and children exist forever?
A lot of people in this world are taking it for granted that this one life on earth is all there is, and then poof, every trace of their being is gone forever. Materialists deny the existence of the soul for the same reason they deny the existence of God — you can’t see it, touch it or measure it. And they are wrong for the same reason. The soul of man is not physical. It is spiritual.
The Lord Jesus taught the existence of a never-dying soul. “What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:3636For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36)). By God’s mercy, have a care for your soul which will never go out of existence.
Question 3: Does it matter how we live?
Life is soon over. What does it really matter how we live when we are here today and gone tomorrow?
It matters a great deal, because when this short life is over, each one of us will have to give account of our lives to God. “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:2727And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27)). “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). This short life is important because every part of it will come under review at the judgment seat of Christ.
How we live matters because God hates sin, even though He shows love to the sinner. Have you come to Christ so your sins might be forgiven? Or are you stained with those sins God hates? Only the blood of Christ can wash away the stains of sin from our record. God hates sin so much that those who die in their sins will be cast out of His presence forever, while those who repent and believe in His Son will enjoy eternal life in heaven. Sin is not some harmless plaything. Those who go on in their sins will pay bitterly for choosing their sin over God. There is an eternal consequence for rejecting God’s grace in our life. How you live makes all the difference in the world.
I hope you give these three questions serious consideration. I hope they get you thinking about the Savior, and, better yet, I hope they lead you to trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation. Those who come to Christ will have eternity to thank Him and praise Him for all He has done.
