Tide Fighting

HAVE you ever seen tide fighting? Perhaps you have never even seen the tide, but if you live near the sea you know what I mean. The waters of the sea gradually rise higher and higher on the land for quite a few hours, and then they slowly slip back again. This rise and fall of the sea is called the tide. Some years ago, about sixty children gathered on a sandy beach by the sea for a Tide Fighting Competition. They were each given a spade, a flag, and a plot of sand, and they were to build a castle each, as fast as they could, until the whistle blew. They all dug and piled, and dug and piled, as fast as they could till each one had a castle of his own, some very high, some not so big, hat very strong, and some not very big and not very strong.
Soon the tide, which had been comng up closer all the time, was within three feet of the castles, and the whistle blew. All the boys and girls stopped working, and sticking flags on top of their castles, they ran up the beach,
The tide crept closer and soon the castles were surrounded by water. Suddenly one collapsed and the flag went down—then another and another, till. Only two big castles remained. Everyone gathered round to watch. Soon a big wave came, a huge crack appeared in one castle, and before long the flag went down. The other had won.
All the children then hurried up the beach, well beyond the tide mark, and there they all sat down to listen, while one told them a story from Matthew's Gospel, chapter seven. It was the story of the foolish man who built his house upon the sand. When the rain, the floods. and the winds beat upon it, it fell and broke to pieces. It had no foundation! But the wise man built his house upon the rock, from which the storms and winds could riot move it.
What are you building on for eternity? Are you building on the sand without bothering about a foundation? Perhaps you are thinking your own good works will be foundation. enough, but they will not stand in that day. In the First Epistle to the Corinthians the Apostle Paul talks of foundations and this is what he says, "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Cor. 3:1111For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11).
-Dear young reader, accept the Lord Jesus as your Saviour, and He will be your unchangeable foundation now and forever.
"Build on the Rock—
The Rock that ever stands;
Oh, build on the Rock and not upon the sands.
You need not fear the storm.
Or the earthquake shock;
You're safe for evermore if you build on the Rock."
"HE ONLY IS MY ROCK AND MY SALVATION; HE IS MY DEFENSE; I SHALL, NOT BE GREATLY MOVED," PSALM 62:22He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. (Psalm 62:2).
