We are told to redeem the time because the days are evil (Eph. 5:1616Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:16)). Paul said that knowing the time, it is high time to awake out of sleep (Rom. 13:1111And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. (Romans 13:11)). We should be careful what we do with our time. Bernard Berenson said,
"I would that I could stand on a busy street corner, hat in hand, and beg people to throw me all their wasted hours."
Another said, "One today is worth a dozen tomorrows. Therefore, use today wisely. Take time to do the things that matter and that will bring eternal dividends."
Time is too precious to lose. Horace Mann wrote, "Lost, yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered, for they are gone forever."
"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Psalm 90:1212So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. (Psalm 90:12).
