Too Much Given

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and glory, and blessing” (Rev. 5:1212Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. (Revelation 5:12)).
In days of old, when the Tabernacle had to be built for Jehovah, the people were asked to give, and they gave too much. Such was their love for Jehovah Who sought to dwell among them, that, day after day, gifts for the building of His Tabernacle were poured into the treasury, until the people had to be restrained, for too much was given. And those who had not money to give gave themselves to the work.
To work for and to give to Jehovah with a willing heart was beautiful, and the worthiness of the Lamb of God “to receive... riches...” today ought to make us show our love and devotedness to Him by casting our gifts into His treasury, until all that was needed for the present need of souls was given. When He give to us, He gives in overflowing measure. When we give to Him, what is the measure of our giving? And none so worthy as He, in heaven above or earth beneath, especially in these days when all the world — ecclesiastical, political, and social — all grades and conditions of men, are casting the shadow of their unbelief over the splendor of His one atoning sacrifice upon the cross. From the glory He seems to look upon the world today, and to say to those who are faithful to His Name, “Will ye also go away?” On our knees may we give the answer to our blessed and adorable Saviour: “Lord, to whom can we go.. Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe, and are sure, that Thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God” (John 6:68, 6968Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. (John 6:68‑69)).
