Yeah.
First, Peter.
Catholic School.
Wherefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile and hypocrisies, and envies, all, you have to speak as uniform babes desire the sincere note of the word, that you can grow thereby.
So we have pictures that the Lord inspiration to homecoming as unto a living stone. It is allowed and heated men, but chosen God and precious He also as lively stones are built up a spiritual house and holy priesthood to OfferUp spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the Scriptures. Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone.
Light precious either believe it on Him shall not be confirmed. Unto you therefore which believe He is precious, but unto them which He disobedient the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.
And a storm stumbling in a rock of a fence, even to them which stumbled at the word, being disobedient, were unto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation of royal priesthood and holy nation of the Jewish people. That He should throw forth the praises of Him who had called you out of darkness into His marvelous life, which in time past were not people, but now the people of God, which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
00:05:12
I beseech you as strangers and programs, as stains and fleshly rust, which war against the soul, having your conversation honest among the temples, that whereas they speak against you as evil doers, they mean by your good works which they shall behold. Glorify God in day of reputation. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's faith, whether it be the king.
As you cream on the governor, and unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evil doers, and for the praise of them that we fell for, so is the will of God that would well do it. You may put the smiles to ignorance as fruit, losing your liberty for the cult of maliciousness, but as the servants of God honor all men, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king service.
Is subject to your masters all fears.
Not only feel good is that, but also to the soul. Well, this is thankward. If a man for conscience toward God and your greed sucking wrong or what glory is it if when you be buffeted for your calls, you shall take it patiently. But if when you do well in subject for it, you take a patiently. This is acceptable as well or even here on to when you call because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that we should follow these steps who did no sin, neither was God.
Thousand was not who, when he was reviled, reviled not again.
When he suffered, he threatened not, but committed him so to him the judges right through his own self bear our sins in his own body on the street, that we being dead to sins, should live on the right ******* by whose stripes you were healed, For ye were a sheep going straight, But are now returned under the shepherd, Bishop, Bishop, Bishop.
Lord has sent the Nicodemus of John three he must be born of order and of the spirit. There was the absolute intensity wasn't here of new birth and so at the end of the first chapter in verse 23 reminds us that we're born again, not a reluctable scene, but by of interruptible by the word of God, which liveth is divided forever. So as those that are sitting here now.
Today we have been born again our makers of divine nature and the fruit of that nature is the fruit of the spirit, Lovejoy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control. That is evidence from the Spirit of God and working upon a new daycare that we can produce them. But our chapter opens with work for the fleshly. Let's say that every one of us here as believers. It would be nice. There's a false teaching and always.
Holiness groups that the whole nature can be burnt out and eradicated. Well, that's only wishful thinking. Every one of us here knows.
That the old nature is still here resident and if we don't walk in the spirit that those things are the flesh can get in the heart and into the soul and and just cause all kinds of heartache and sorrow. And so we're the way aside malice. There's hard feelings to die on deceit, the hypocrisy, the new evil speakings. What a word to our conscience and here to start off with this verse.
OK, that's the old man is still there, unchanged and unchangeable. I was just born of the flesh is flesh. And the two we know that it never changes, but God has given us a new life, a life that he likes, and the things of God finds his joy in the things of God. But we still have that old man. And wherever his works are manifested, there's a hindrance to spiritual growth, a hindrance to the enjoyment of our portion in Christ. And I'm sure that's why the exhortation comes in here.
00:10:08
God wants his children to grow, doesn't he? And uh, if, uh, these, we are thinking of this in connection with the garden, some of the young people will know, and some of those older ones too, that you have a vegetable garden. And when I grow some things, but if you allow the weed to come up in that garden, then the vegetables are soaked out or good is choked out. And I think here we find that the expectation is to lay aside some of the weeds.
That are in this garden that God has given to us as we have already been noticed every the 1St chapter. We have light, we have salvation and God wants us now to grow, to grow. And so that is brought in here. I need one great desire to see the ceremony and not to go on with this, but it's just taking me through how interesting it is that it brings in two things here in connection with growth.
Not only, not just that I saved from judgment to come, but I'm saved with glory, and God wants to see proof in my life.
And the first thing that we get in this in this chapter following this, of course, is is there are two principal things and that is there is we are we are built up to offer up a spiritual sacraments. We can OfferUp to God first. The upper springs come first and then we find that we are royal priesthood to go through those who are without. There is another spring, but at least we that this these things are not set aside.
We're not in the state of soul to be able to worship, nor to bring out the truth of God, of the gospel going out to many, many others.
Mr. Garvey's translation has the mantle, milk of the word, that she may go there by. And I was thinking of how God wants us to lay hold of His truth intelligently. It speaks in Romans. One presents our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your intelligent service. That is, we ought to lay hold of the truth of God intelligently as believers.
So in the Old Testament, there were many things that they were asked to do that if you would ask the godly Israelite, why is that sacrifice done in such and such a way? He didn't know, but he was called to obedience and he did the things without understanding why. But God wants us to understand the things that He tests before us and so that our service becomes an intelligent service because we're in the family.
With our children, we ask them to do something and we explain to them why. And isn't it lovely that God wants us to carry on an intelligent service in this world? And His word gives us this kind of instruction. We need to know what our position is. We're children of God need to know that we're members of the body of Christ. We need to know that we're holy priests and royal priests. We need to know what God is doing and why we are called upon to this path. And I think it's very lovely that he brings us into communion with himself under explaining these things to us so that there's a loving service, but also an intelligent service.
All right, and in some parts I notice that those were desired. In the second very immet. The desire for the things of God is what is needed to lead to growth. If there is not an exercise of heart and soul about those things, we won't grow. We might be happy reading the word or listening to the administrative words, but there has to be that desire to absorb those things, to take them in. There has to be an appetite for those family things in order to produce real growth in our hearts and lives.
OK.
Kind of skipped over a little bit.
Negative aspects or like amounts to 14.
20.
Because my brother did not show them and understand them now, be it in malice. So I don't understand them. And what's the characteristics of children connecting with now? Well, we get real angry with each other for a moment.
00:15:07
Uh, a couple months later the plane happened together and, uh.
That's the way it should be. It's three years ago, uh, riled up because there's some statements that might be innocent by us or it's something you don't, you don't approve of. I would really think that angry like God.
Is true? Well, every belief are obtained and very angry to hear that, but yes.
Uh, we, uh, should be like, sure.
Interesting that you hear in this right here in this first person he covers.
They they will need you.
I was thinking just mentioning laying aside that's individual I as an individual, I'm lay that aside. I'm not I'm not to judge it somewhere else. I'm making possible on the but here is an individual matter. So lay inside all malice. I suppose you could say malice is even intent, isn't it? That's as you pointed out, the children can get angry with one another, but in a few hours they're all back together again. There's no evil intent there. But then.
Dial is begin to cook what I really am, you know got it. I I I I have AI have a something in my heart and I'm I'm trying to cover it up with something else. And then hypocrisy is pretending to be something that I'm not. So we get the whole picture in this one little verse. We get the picture, perhaps not all, but at least in part what we are on YouTube. What comes up even in the child of God.
Umm, hypocrisy. Pretending to be something I'm not. And then we come to that little word angry.
Uh, you know, I can be envious of you and you might not know it.
That has been a decade. It's been a sad thing among the people of God and envy, but this, if this is entertained, what comes out?
And all evil stories.
Becomes what is in this part of mind and I I believe I will see in this case of covering of of what what the heart.
What the natural heart of man is.
Uh, and also it is sometimes characteristic among like the Lord's people and with me also. And so I need to put this all aside because I am, I have now, I've been involved by the Spirit of God. I have, I have, I have eternal life, I have salvation. So it's an expectation for us, isn't it, to, to set these things aside. That would be.
Detrimental.
Do a path that I'm walking in and not helpful to anyone else and I think you get that further in the chat.
There are five things smoking up here. Malice style, hypocrisy, anymore evil speaking. The thought occurred to me that time when, uh, the member of Joshua and how that those 5 kings, they hit, they came all often to be done. They were to be brought out to the light and the night, put upon the sword as it were, and put it dead. And so would be 5 things. We've got to realize that they can be latent within our heart. A word of God, bring it into the light, see that they are the worst of the flesh and put the knight to them.
Deal with them. And then in connection with verse two, we, uh, are often reminded that Peter uses the milk a little bit differently than what the apostle Paul does. Uh, when Peter says desire to censor milk of the word, he's only talking about things in Christ, but he's talking about us all through our pathway, isn't it? We never, never should be, uh, tired of, uh, reading the word of God.
Medicating upon it. It was a joy to my heart last night. I hope the brothers don't be I'm I'm talking with two brothers, young man and I was already retired, so to speak when they came in and I peeked out of my eye to see what happened and they opened up Bible and they both read a chapter and then they prayed into God invent what a joy. You know that all dear ones that we might never never just say I don't understand. I'm reading Chronicles and all of those names very often.
00:20:14
There's a little nugget even in the Chronicles and just reading and reading and read the word of God and meditate upon it and thereby grow. And I might just point out with with Paul in first Corinthians 3 and in Hebrews chapter five, he said those believers with with milk and not meat, because there was something there which stumped their food. The Corinthians it was one thing worldliness and the nation a strike amongst them.
With the Hebrews, it was because they were tenaciously holding on to things that they had learned in Judaism and pull out a freedom with milk and the meat had to be held back until they made a complete break with Judaism and went on to the blessed truths of Christianity.
I think it's good to, uh, consider that in spiritual things.
It's not our natural ability that enables us to grow or to understand things is a function of our moral state. If you turn back to First Corinthians chapter 2.
In Louder Brother Bruce, First Corinthians, chapter 2.
Let me just read first eleven First Corinthians chapter 2. What men know the things of a man? Think the spirit of man which is in him. That is an inanimate thing. A wall or a rocket or even an animal can't enter into the things of a man. That's not the spirit of a man which knows what's inside of a man.
Then in the latter part of verse 11, even though the things of God know no man but the Spirit of God, now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God, that we might know the things which are freely given to us of God and so on. And so we see from this the truth that the importance of why verse one comes before verse two, that is in, uh, you think back to your school days. It wasn't the most godly boy or girl in the class who learned the most.
There was no relationship between.
A conduct or a moral state and how much somebody learned naturally of mathematics or French or physics or whatever. And sometimes it's just the opposite. And as we get older and go to work, it may be that, uh, it's not necessarily the most upright or godly person that advances in the business world or anywhere. Uh, there's no direct relationship in those things, but in spiritual things there is. Because even though we all have, uh, an English translation of the word of God on our last, umm, the brightest person in here cannot understand it.
Uh, unless the Spirit of God indwelt and, and opens up to him, uh, what is in the word of God. And that is an important thing to remember. If I want to learn and grow, if I want to taste and enjoy, if I don't want to just sit here cold and, and, uh, bored with spiritual things, my moral state has to be right before God. I have to lay aside these things as Brother John has put, I have to expose them, umm, before God and put the knife to them or I'm not going to have the appetite to desire.
The pure mental milk of the word. I'm not going to grow. I think that's something you forget. You say, well, I want to learn like that. Brother learns. And so we dig in and we start to study, study and read books. And that's a good thing to read good books I bought. If we're allowing things in our lives that our consciences are crying out against, we're not going to grow and take in the things that's gone because it's only the Spirit of God that give us to know these things. And he's called the Holy Spirit. And so without holiness, practically, we're not going to have the appetite to desire, nor will. And if we don't have the appetite, we're not going to be and grow up unto salvation.
Even in the Passover, they were told to, they were to put away leaven out of their houses. And so we know tells us in first Corinthians 511, his malice and wickedness isn't it? And if that isn't put away, we can't enjoy the Lord. They couldn't really enjoy the Passover as God intended if they didn't put away that lemon. Uh, not only that they didn't need it with the Passover lab, but there was put over their houses all together. And how important that is because it isn't always things that are said in the meeting.
00:25:04
But it's things we say between ourselves, for our hearts often are laid there that we haven't really judged those things to hinder.
A little canvases that, uh, self judgment is the inseparable condition of a walk in communion with God.
It's a story cold of a of a young man who walked up to the platform after a servant of Christ had given an address. And the young man was just so enamored with his knowledge and grasp of the word of God. And he said, how can I?
Paraphrasing it, but he said, how can I learn the word like you do and know it like you do? And I'm told that his answer was by remembering 4 simple words. And he quoted from John chapter 6. The flesh prophet is nothing. And uh, I don't know who the young man was and when it took place and I don't know how he took that. But you know, a person could go away wondering what what was the connection between what he told me and what my question was. But there is a connection, isn't there? The black profit is nothing. And we made in the book of Proverbs is kind of sobering.
I think there are several passages that speak about.
He that hates us to be rich. Uh, and I can't quite put in place the last part of that verse, but, uh, I think the general thrust of those passages that he's, he that pays to be rich, brings a snare up on himself. And I believe that's true of spiritual things as well. We may haste to be rich and try to gobble up all kinds of knowledge, but there isn't, uh, a practical growth in our souls. It's going to come to none. What we turn this off?
Does that fit in with verse 3?
It's so big. You have tasted that the Lord is sweet or gracious or precious. Really. That's that's the core, isn't it? I see the preciousness is the Lord precious to my soul. That's really what he's saying here too. It's so deep. Sophie. Yes. Aces and the Lord.
MMM.
Those two and three go together too. Don't they end up sensitive? If I had tasted that the Lord is gracious, if if I had fallen in love with Christ, the one who loved me and gave himself for me, how can I neglect His word? If he loved me, Keep my commandments, You love me, keep my words. And so it's just incompatible, we might say, with having been redeemed by Christ.
I need the object right and fair before my soul to be negligent. Other words, no, the two things. If so, being that your peace that the Lord is gracious, then desire the word, His word, that he might be able to speak to us and show us what's wrong, that we must shut it, Bring before us that which is pleasing, and excite that we might plead to it for his praise and glory.
The word here comes in, doesn't it? Because God would exercise someone who might not be real. There's no desire for the things of God in the natural man. He doesn't enjoy those things at all. We have to be born into the family of God to have that new life with him is capable of entering into and enjoying the things of God. And so he brings this in. And so we can speak a lot about practical things, but if there's anyone here who hasn't yet.
Been born into the family of God. He has no power to put aside those evil things. He has no power to enjoy the things of God. He must be in the family. And so God has given us a new life. By that new life we have now discernment. We have power to judge that which is a hindrance. And we also have power to walk in this world to please God. And we want direction. Uh, shall I say God has given us the desire by new birth and he has given us his word to be direction for that new life that he has given us.
How do I know? As a Christian we need many dear Christians who really sincerely love the Lord. But how am I going to know what pleases him? It's His word that sets that path before me and the the flesh, even in the Christian, can resist the truth of God. So we need to constantly be in that spirit of self judgment, but we also need to be feeding upon the Word of God and asking like the newborn desire you think of falls when he was on the road to Damascus.
00:30:17
He said blood will still have me to do, and that is the breathings of the new light. And we need to get up, we'll say each day and ask the Lord to for direction. So we have direction through His Word and we have direction through prayer. We have direction definitely, and things that please the Lord through His word. But in little things of life we need prayer, don't we? But we have tasted that the Lord is good, and it's often been said our failure comes from unbelief in that point.
If Adam and Eve had really believed that God had provided everything for their good and happiness, they wouldn't have reached up out for that which He or bad. They would have found their satisfaction and what He had provided. Why do you and I reach out for that which God has forbidden? Because we don't believe that what He has marked out in His Word, the path He has marked out for us, is truly the good path. It's the good and right way, as it says in Proverbs.
Having tasted that the Lord is gracious produced the desire in our hearts to draw nigh. Definitely it continues on a great fall. Thank you. Who's coming? OK, but there are so many objects in this world around the flat capable of attracting our hearts. We all know that. And so the question here is, how much have I enjoyed or laid hold of in my heart? All the preciousness of Christ or the sweetness of graciousness, if that's the case?
Then the other objects are going to lose an attraction to my soul, and no one has to tell me to keep away from them because I have a better object. I have one that is capable of absorbing all of my affection. And so that as we have tasted that the Lord is gracious, we'll have an desire to come to use the drawn knife and love the crime, and to enjoy chameleons and fellowship with Him.
I believe Peter himself had that experience in a very real way, and it's brought out in the sixth chapter of John when a number of the Lord's disciples turned back and walked no more with him. The Lord turns to them and says, will you also go away? And Peter responds, and I believe from the depths of his hire he doesn't say, where shall we go?
That might be the way people would answer a question like that.
But he says, To whom shall we go, Lord? To whom shall we go?
And if the heart turns away, uh, in any way from the Lord, uh, it's not because, uh, some other, uh, teaching has gotten a hold of us so much as we've lost sight of the person. And I believe that is, uh, why Peter puts it this way. To whom? Coming to, unto a living spell.
And when the Lord challenged it, will you also go away?
Respond to such a wonderful way. Whom shall we go now has the word to eternal life and you believe that are sure of the power thing. Uh, Christ, the son of the living God. What a wonderful confession he made, uh, in response to that. And I believe that's the secret of our hearts being taken up with that blessed one that we might uh.
Understand. But it's not a A. Christianity is not a doctrine.
Christianity is not a teaching, it's not a philosophy. It's identification with a person to whom coming.
That was one of the first things that Peter learned was that in the first chapter of John, when the Lord met Peter, it tells us that he said, uh, he said that my name shall be called C Pass, which is by interpretation of stone. Was wonderful that Peter learned that very quickly. And isn't it nice for believers to learn that, that we're billed as living stones into a spiritual house?
When Solomon's temple was built, the stones were cut out in the quarry and put in.
There was no sound or hammer in the building. They were just cut and to fill a certain place in the, uh, building Solomon's temple. And Peter learned that very soon. And then in the 16th chapter of Matthew, he learns what the foundation is, that Christ is the foundation. He's a solid rock on which this building is built and isn't sad that today many people, when they are saved, they immediately think of joining some.
00:35:26
Organization that man has set up that he calls a church.
But Peter learned very soon that every believer is a living stone, and now God is building a spiritual house, and we as believers are living stones in that. And I think it's very nice to see that Peter learned that very quickly. And I believe it's important in the life of the unbeliever that he sees that he saved by grace, but he sees what Christianity is, and he sees what his position is in this world as a living stone in this spiritual building.
Matthew chapter 21 might read a few verses in connection with the stone just to bring something out there, and Matthew 21 verse 42. Jesus saith unto them, Did you never read in the Scriptures the stone which the builders rejected? The same has become the head of the corner. This is the Lord doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes. Therefore say I unto you, that Kingdom of God shall be taken from you.
And given to a nation, bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on the sun shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to power just that much. I think the we can think of the stone as Christ in connection with the the Jew, the Gentile, and the Church of God. And 1St here the Lord speaks about the stone which the builders, those religious leaders in Israel, rejected.
Just become the head of the corner. And so this is the Lord's doing. Marvelous in our eyes. This, this secret purpose and thought of God, umm, the thought of the church and Christ is the cornerstone which binds all together and he's a foundation stone upon which all rest. But then, uh, it was to Israel a stumbling stone because, uh, when he came, there were in the Old Testament scriptures, of course, that part of it was that.
Well, when Messiah comes, he will deliver us out of the ******* of those that have ruled over us. Jerusalem will be the metropolis. Uh, Israel will be restored. All of the blessings that have been promised to them of the land will be theirs. And they saw the glory side, but they didn't see the suffering. And so when the Lord Jesus came in humiliation, they stumbled over that stone, for he was here in humiliation. But as they say, now he's the head of the church.
Anything cheap cornerstone or a cornerstone, and then he's going to be a smiling stone to the Gentiles as we learn in Daniel that all these Gentile world powers, no matter how much armament they might have, how powerful they may be with their, uh, weaponry, the day is coming when the Lord Jesus Christ shall come out of heaven as the smiting stone and grind all of these Gentile world powers.
Down to nothing, and his Kingdom shall become a great Kingdom over the whole earth. And so, uh, the Lord's second coming and uh, when our hearts rejoice too, to see that day when he will have his rightful sway, the man of God's purpose and counsel shall rule over all. So as I say, the stone then in Scripture connected with Israel stumbling over it, and now the cornerstone of the church and a smiling stone to the Gentiles in the coming day.
Who's trying to wean the heart of these, uh, Jewish believers heavenward? Wasn't he says in the first chapter, uh, that he's begotten to get onto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and the fate of not away reserved in heaven for you as a nation. They could look forward to the time when God would bless them because in that millennial day.
Jerusalem will be the center called the city of the great King. All nations will have to come up and worship there. But there was a change took place when the Lord Jesus was rejected as the cornerstone of the building, so to speak. And now God is building a spiritual building. Our home is not earthly, but heavenly. He's begotten us again. They were brought into the land of Canaan to be blessed there, but they rebelled and they forfeited the land.
00:40:21
But however, God had made unconditional promises to Abraham, and He is going to bless the nation of Israel, and there is going to be a wonderful day for this earth when Christ has His rightful place. But it is important rather than that we realize that in this present, present dispensation, we're a heavenly people. We're not left here to improve the world. God is building a spiritual building. Every believer is a living stone in that building.
We are a holy priest to OfferUp spiritual sacrifices. We are wild priests to show forth the praises of him who's called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. And so our whole position in this world is different from those who belong to the nation of Israel. It is those who have a heavenly, a heavenly home and represent heaven here in this world. And no doubt that's why the chapter begins by showing immoral character that's suited to that.
Now that is, how could we as those who belong to have them, show those fruits of the of the flesh in our lives? We would seek to judge them so that we might be in the enjoyment and be a testimony to this world that we have messed up with. Alan, who is gracious, the one who is good, the one who had so great a cost, as chapter one tells us, redeemed not with corruptible things as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ.
Well, what a position is ours. Let's never forget it. Rather, we're in this world to represent heaven. We're not here to improve the world. We leave that to a coming day when the Lord will set things right. But our place, our my remember a young man who was going on his way to remember the Lord and uh, he passed the bus stop and there was a neighbor waiting there. So he picked up the neighbor and the customers. They were going in that direction. And the neighbor said, to what church do you go to?
And he said, well, where I go, the church goes to the building.
So you and I are part of the Church of God with this building. Is this a convenient meeting place? The church is a spiritual building and we are living stones. We are members of the Head who is Christ. What a lovely position to enter into and enjoy in a world like this.
Is this the same thought that Paul brings out an infusion pill first? Uh.
There's 21.
He is still in 21 The.
Simply praying together, growing up to a holy temple in the Lord set the same thought as what he.
Not going to go.
Brother uh said to me after a meeting in which I could not speaking on this passage.
That sisters were not priests.
Maybe we could have a word on that. I uh.
Don't see that, Paul says. You who are men or a spiritual uh.
The holy priesthood, Does he, uh.
Just, uh, I have this little plot that uh.
As to the collective aspect of it in the public way.
That is an audible priesthood. That isn't the function of a sister. But I can tell you this, dear sisters, that your effect on the tone of the assembly is more than you can imagine.
I have come to a meeting.
Cold and hard.
And after 25 minutes or so the Lord works in by the Spirit of God using the hymns and scriptures and less it affected the word of God and warming the heart. The Lord puts him on my heart.
And they give it out. And after the meeting, the dear old sister will come up to me and say, oh, brother, I'm so glad you gave that him out. I was thinking about it for 20 minutes before you gave it out. Now what is that? That's pretty good, isn't it?
And God takes, the Spirit of God takes from the heart of that dear sister that happy and holy exercise of praise in her heart, and gives audible expression to it through Elaine.
00:45:13
Uh, a lame, uh, and, and failing man that perhaps, uh, needed a 25 minutes to get his heart warmed up in the meeting. I just point that out for the encouragement of the sisters. To me, that's a very precious thing. And that happened to be more than once, uh, uh, here this year. I just addressed that to you. Your priesthood may not be audible in the assembly, but it's very precious to God and important in the collective aspect in the sense that.
The Spirit of God really takes from the heart.
Of all and gives audible expression to it through, uh, the brother who, uh, takes an audible part. But, uh, it's not confined to the public activity, is it? Uh, the priesthood, our priesthood is not confined to the public meetings of the believers. And in fact, it's uh, uh, I believe the dear sister is standing, washing dishes or changing the baby and, and uh, pouring out her heart praise to the Lord.
Is exercising her priesthood.
I was wondering about Bruce's question mark, uh, before we close here, referring to Ephesians chapter 2. What was your, You have something on that brother?
No, I I don't think he got answered.
I was satisfied, but may I raise another question here? When does the offering up of failure factor 5 to take place that only meetings?
That was Hardy, and I believe it's not confined to me, is it not? I would like you to be characterized by phrase. She did not. And how many opportunities that are not needed live where the heart can just come and go out in a spirit of praise and Thanksgiving just to the Lord. Take praise unto him, and our hearts have precious peace to us, and that is us through rather than as as well assisted as as it was brought out.
And so that's beautiful. And this, this series of offering up spiritual, technical minds can be a continual service. It doesn't take your gathering together of the Saints to produce the Alzheimer's when you come together.
There are mentalities and that's death. I believe it becomes a very special occasion for that, but it must not be limited to occasions like those.
Well, it says that singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, the melody really before God, is not the thing itself as in the heart, because a brother or sister might be able to sing or might not be able to sing, but still can make melody in his or her heart. And that is what God hears. No heart, but of the spirit of thought makes melody to thee in a physical sense. We see it in the temple. Why, when the temple was dedicated in the time of Solomon?
There were 120 pre sounding trumpets and many other instruments there, so it was what could be heard. And it says they made one sound and praising and thanking the Lord. But Christianity is an entirely new thing. And that is God gave the awkward thing in Judaism, but the inward thing is Christianity. And so when this meeting closes it we sing a hymn. The Lord knows he looks down. The best singer might have the least melody in his heart, but what the Lord hears is the melody in the heart.
To the Lord. And so this is an encouragement, and certainly a sister can have part in that, in the melody that's in the heart. In fact, the brother who gives out to him may not be in as much communion as the sister who's singing it. So that's where the melody is, and that's what the Lord values. So that's what he really accepts.
Be a a very nice thing in our local gatherings. All of us were as intelligent as in spiritual things and spiritual truths and rose up to the enjoyment days conveyed in a lot of those Inns and the little block info and uh, at home on Saturdays. We've been going through the little book of other 80 and Roach late brother Adrian Roach put together and uh, it's just very touching to see that some of the hymns that are.
Some, you know, almost every gathering continuously were written by sisters, some of whom were only lived, uh, maybe 40 or 45 years on this earth. And you look up, uh, we look up the numbers and see them. And the truths conveyed in there, uh, indicate that these sisters must have not only known the truth, but enjoyed it. And it must have been common to their souls enjoying for them to sit down and use over those things like that. It's quite touching, really. So this is another aspect of our priesthood.
00:50:23
In the book of Malachi, it says the priest lips should keep knowledge and they should seek the law at his mouth, afraid of the messenger of the Lord of hosts. And so brothers and sisters have the privilege as uh, Albert, uh, late brother Albert Hale used to say, there's no such gift. There's no gift that taking in the truth. He used to say there's a gift connected with giving it out, but there's no gift connected with taking it in. And you look around at all of us in the meeting room at his point being that there was nothing to hinder us, uh, as far as the spiritual gift.
Being able to take it and enjoy the truth. It's one of our priestly privileges to to intelligently enter into the unsearchable riches of Christ and have them as the music of our hearts.
Mm-hmm.
All right.
00:55:10
I'm a stranger in the earth.
I'm not documented from me.
Verse 18.
Open down mine eyes.
But I may behold wonders thing probably by law.

OK, why do we pray when we start a meeting?
Yes.
Asking the word of God is what else? Anybody else know a good reason to pray when we start a meeting?
That's a very good answer, very good answer.
Why do we have to ask him to try this?
Can we just think about it, Decide what would be best ourselves?
You think that would be a good idea?
All right.
Beg your pardon? Everybody wouldn't be doing the same thing.
Or would be doing the same thing.
Well, do you really think we know what everybody needs?
You know, who knows?
The Lord knows that's right, so we asked him, don't we?
Let's do that, shall we? So we ask him, and we'll ask him to bless him if his word, because it is His word, all right.
Your turn to fix for me.
Let me see.
Junior, I think your hand was up first, but I'm not sure what number 10. OK #10. All right, #10.
Oh, that's another favorite of mine.
Because it's probably about 100. And let me see how many papers in line are in here. Probably about 100 favorites of mine in here.
What not quite often, almost all, almost all #10 round us throw the body in heaven without any children's favorite children. Children's things are all for again as well as they have the hands from training and King of Glory.
Oh my God. Well, if you're saying it's a little.
UH-100 And that's where I'm on the side and so bright and clear.
Where all this is my joy and one of those came to the middle of the grandparents and said anything more.
UH-100 eighty 183 dollars.
Thank you very much. You guys have been able to supply, you know, the blondes have a lot of wedding and everything. It's not worth it. That's what I'm trying to learn from Devils and White and I'm pleading against anything. Laundry.
Laughter.
Laundry doing heavenly bra. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Uh, the last verse. I want you to do something very different. We have some friends here from another country, you know, and uh, they know how to sing that hymn in another language. And on the last verse, instead of singing, singing glory, glory, glory be to God on high, we're going to sing it in Spanish and they'll help us very much back there because they know it. And we'll send Canton, Gloria, Gloria.
Hallelujah. Santo. Dios. OK, Canton. Gloria. Gloria. Hallelujah. Santos. Dios. All right, you listen back there that I'm singing with you, and then they'll help you on the last verse, All right? So on Earth, Grace. On earth, they lost his name. So let me know if I'll send them praying before.
All of them and constant glory to God beyond.
No.
How'd you know that, Junior?
You've done it before. Oh, OK Everybody did that very well. Did they, Mr. S Sam? You know Spanish. Was that all right? All right. Did Mr. Little sing it? All right, too? I can hear him. Oh, OK All right. All right. Another one. Yes. Seven. All right. 7/7.
00:05:21
I don't know if I know this one real well, but Mr. Hasley will help me if I get a little bit track and his name shall be wonderful.
Umm, I can be gone today. Thank you. I don't think it's been very big pain. You are taking care of yourself.
In the afternoon in front of the kids was like so much of life supply of the community. I'm not going to ask you to do it the end of the day. I don't know. God, that's great. It didn't get riding and they didn't give them a wonderful.
Name.
Now, we have many girls here this morning, but there's some, so we're going to take one from a girl. Now, boys really must be outnumbering the girls here this morning.
Any any, uh, girls that have one Girls. Girls. I mean, girl wants to him. They don't, they don't want to stay at you. Oh, you can put your hands up. OK, we'll send that. No girl put his hand up. So we'll have to do what? When? 88. All right?
88 is a very interesting number. Do you know what 88 always makes me think of?
Something else? Either what what has 88 keys?
Right, the 80s on the piano, OK, number 88 there once was a while ago.
They had to make time in the last three minutes and many thoughts was the same in the hospital and they said so light bring him through to me.
Wednesday, I'm going to receive UMM and which we have never been good.
Wildlife alone in the evening was my hair and I'll be having.
When Jesus was rising up by him, it is like just some way, as I did, turn around.
Uh, why? I said. We don't need anything?
Of my life. I'm not. Umm, I'm getting like this. They go through making a room for whatever you want to do today.
In love with you in the last year of life here you're going to do. And I'm very beautiful. I have anything happened pretty.
That was good. I mean, I have to tell you, very, somewhat embarrassing story, but a funny story, I think, which was I used to be very afraid of Mr. Clarence on Dean years ago. I don't know, just he's scared. And one time he came to our house and we had little children and we lived in Norway. And Mr. Lundeen took one of our children, or maybe two of them, and put him on his big knees. You know, he's a tall man.
He bounced them up and down and taught them that song, and I've never been afraid of Mr. Lundeen after that.
All right. Sometimes you get afraid of people. Sometimes you don't need to take, you know?
Face Afraid to be this man. Yes or no? 52 All right.
Jesus loves me and I go for the unbelievable now. And so let's go once you can play all the time, please. But I believe in the strongest one. He has made his life so long as they.
00:10:11
Are in the front screen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And we still have anything wrong? Bye. Bye. Do you hear me? Oh my God.
At the bottom of the.
Business block the city blocked by his own 1000 days of.
His brother's love may be made anything. Well, thank you so much for being sorry to give me a little bit, it had replied. And it was my Christmas and you know I die Thai.
Do you have anything to go out? And maybe maybe tomorrow? Umm.
Yeah, you didn't need to try to pull out today.
God made me He died. He died from sleeping. Throat of thy womb. Scout dreams, you know.
I go into the jail every week and.
Talk to the men there about the Lord Jesus I.
And uh, you have a nice two hour time due to English and then on Monday we have a nice two hour time in Spanish with them. And you know what the favorite song of the men in jail is? Of the men who come to meetings in jail. I should put it that way. And it's not just where I go, but everywhere they tell me those who work in jail ministry tell me that it's the same in every jail. You know what it is?
You think you know No.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
You know that such is my heart because that tells me that when you teach your child that when they're young, they may get far away from God, but it still sticks in their mind. That's why we like your children to sing these songs and learn to mind you're young. Because we know the spirit of God can bring that out of your memory and use it for blessing in your heart. I hope none of you end up in jail. I hope that. But remember that Jesus loves you.
That's a wonderful thing to know, isn't it? Jesus Christ.
Well, now I think we have time for one more song before the story that I have in mind in the Scripture. Let me see. We owe a girl a girl. I can't believe it. Alyssa, what would you like to say?
94 She was the same. All right, that's fine. We've got a girl.
Oh, another one that.
Favor, isn't it? Let's just stand up for a 7 digit stretch all right, and and get it for a few minutes after that. All right. And we'll sing this standing up. Oh, what? Cotton Claws away right there.
00:15:43
But thank God for it. Nothing but the Lord Jesus.
Longing because I am hard. I've done nothing but the blood. Don't give love. Oh, right now.
By the body and the world.
Nothing but the blood mountain.
Of all night, I don't know nothing but the bloody love.
Whoa. The branches are standing up above the heart. Makes me lying. That's. No, no, no. I'll turn 1009 thousand 9000. Nothing but the blood. Nothing.
Blah blah blah. All right, you can.
Down. Now I have a question about a reward. You want to send the voice up? Uh, rolling. Do you want to come up?
I like children up front. Besides, they get a chance to surprise. I might have in my pocket.
Now here's my question. What?
Verse.
In the Bible.
Is so important for us? What verse in the Bible is so important that we've got some more girls up here too? That's nice. All right. One verse in the Bible is so important.
That God says it twice in a short time as a couple of things. A couple of answers you could give me on that, but there's one I'm looking for, if you can think of the one I'm looking for. I have a prize in my pocket for you.
No, I don't think that's twice. That's not wrong. I don't think that's twice in in the Bible. There's a verse that's twice in the Bible, right within two chapters of one another.
Giving another hint right within two chapters and it's so important. It's what I want to talk about this morning.
Oh dear, dear, dear.
You kids aren't lazy like I was when I had to learn a verse.
I once cheated and told my father that I had learned a verse and I had learned it. A terrible thing to do. That was scriptural thing and all that. I did it. I told my father I learned another verse and I really just found out that it was twice in the Bible and I said it twice.
You know, he wasn't too pleased. He made me learn five more because of that.
Did that, But I've never forgotten the first. What is the verse? You know, It starts out with the word there, there.
I know, Mr. Conrad says. I mean, they ask him, because I'm not going to give him a prize, even if he's dead. Katie, you know?
I don't know what the names are out here, but I know a few. What's yours, Tim? That's why you wanted to burst out of Timothy. All right, that's good. That's good. But what is this person starts out there is.
There it is.
Julie, you know.
00:20:07
Can't quite hear. Could you say it a little louder?
Now you know the reference one of the two references.
Probably all right.
Uh, Proverbs 14 and verse 12. Look it up. You know, I found out an important thing. And again, I want to tell you about working in the jail. I found a very important that people read verses for themselves in the Bible. If they know how to read, it's very, very important because otherwise.
It doesn't seem to impress.
Looking up read it to me.
So I want somebody to look it up. Truly you get the price.
Whole dollar. There's not much today, but there you go.
Proverbs 1412.
That's the first time.
That's the first time to sit there. All right, you read it. You had your hand up. You had your place. Read it. Stand up and read what all you when the Lord Jesus read the word of God in Luke chapter 4.
And said he stood up for to reach. So let's follow his example.
Right.
The end thereof are the ways of death. Now somebody turned to Proverbs 16 and verse 25.
All right, you had your hand up. What's your name?
You're Tim also two times here, OK?
Pin number one stand up and pin number 2 will tell you if you read it right.
1625 but the good loud voice.
Ma'am. But the end, therefore the other way to get.
The end there up are the ways of death. There is a way that seems right. Let's all read it together out loud so that it impresses itself once. There is a way that seems right under a man, but the end thereof on the way of death.
So now I'm going to tell you a story that some of the children know already, that I'm going to tell you anyway.
Years ago.
And uh, our daughter Peggy was 11 years old.
We climbed the mountain.
I'll bring you Adirondack Mountain, New York, anybody who can ever go to the Adirondack Mountains.
Oh, it's a very beautiful place. If you ever, ever went there, you should go. Jon Stewart's been there, I know that. And uh, we climbed up a mountain called Ampersand Mountain. 3 1/2 mile uh, Trail and pretty rough. It's one of the roughest in the Adirondack Mountains. Uh, the climate. This is the highest mountain. Mount Marcy is the highest. But Ampersand is worth 1800 and some feet I believe. And.
Almost a Mile High and it's a hard thing to climb. It gets very slippery in places and you have to pull yourself up with roots and it's not an easy one to do. Maybe I was getting old enough that I shouldn't have done it, I don't know. But we started out late in the afternoon and it was our children and he didn't go because he wanted to stay fish. He prefers fishing. But the rest of us all went up and we climbed up the mountain.
And we got up there late in the day and I was tired when we got to the top. I needed to rest a while.
And it's beautiful. When we got up there we could see down a little lake and see all the the. We could even see the boys find it anyway. They could see mother out on the dock.
I don't know if you really could from that high up, but they were sure they saw Mother on the dock and they we were just had a wonderful time up there. Nice breeze blowing over the top of the rocks and it was a beautiful view.
I was even thinking about how it must have been for Moses to go up on Mount Pisgah and look and see the promised land, you know, just such a beautiful scene. And finally I looked at my watch. Now it's going to be dark pretty soon. And we organized everybody that said, don't get ahead, everybody stay together, going down.
00:25:16
Taking sneakers weren't quite dry and.
She, uh, was drying her socks and her sneakers and finally we got organized and we started down. And of course you can't stop some boys when they get started going down the mountain, you know, it's hard to stop them. They go way ahead of us.
He was tired ******* this very She was, uh, just pokey that day. And so we started on down the hill down the mountain. Pretty soon we were winding down and came to a place where it was hard to tell which way to go. Now, they have very good things up there in the Adirondack Mountains. They have little red discs of metal that they hammer on the trees so you don't make a mistake or a blue one or whatever trail you're taking. If you're taking the blue trail, you can follow these blue disks.
But what do you think happens? Bad boys had what? What's wrong with Yeah, but you know why some bad boys have taken the the girls. I don't know. When they've been paying girls. I kind of think it was bad boys. But anyway, they they took the discs off and we could not tell which way to turn. Look, this way looks like a trail. And that way looked like a trail.
Well, I looked at it.
Said the Peggy. That one seems like the way the right way to go.
Is that a good idea?
What should I have done?
And I'm having your right eye to pray. I should have prayed. But instead I was thinking, you know, I figured out, you know, I thought this. I remember coming up past this tree. Oak trees look the same after a while, so I can't. We started on down. It looked real nice. Nice pack. It went down much faster than I thought. We had come up.
And all of a sudden, the past disappeared.
No pad. And I turned around and said right at all the X1 back up there, but I think we made the wrong turn. We were about a half a mile down from where we had started and I couldn't even be sure where the path was behind this and immediately, what verse of scripture do you think I thought of?
That's right. I thought about that verse that we were talking. That's talking about there is a way that seems right.
It seemed right to me, Didn't seem wrong. I wouldn't take it if it seemed wrong, would I? It seemed right. But you know, it could have been a way of death. It could have been a way of death in the end. Well, now I thought, well, I got to go down the mountain and it doesn't matter whether I'm off the trail or not. It's better than trying to climb back up because it's too hard to climb and I'm tired and I don't know if I can make it. What are we going to do?
What should we do?
And so I thought, maybe the children didn't get too far ahead.
And so I called out with all my strength, with all my mighty as loud as I could call. What do you think? I called out?
No.
Michael.
What?
Oh, well, that's part of the story. You've heard this story.
He got ahead of me by a little bit here, but what did I call out?
Do you think that I called out I give a lot of money to the Red Cross?
I'm on the board of the church.
No, I don't do a lot of bad things. Do you think I shouted that out? Oh dear.
Oh.
I'm lost, I called out. Lost.
Loud as I could. Now, Michael, you tell us what happened after that. Did anybody answer me?
What did I what answered me? Coyotes. You're right. I feel like you're here with the Coyotes answering me.
00:30:08
And that's terrible thing. I think that you're lost.
You know the Bible doesn't use the word unsaved sometimes. I think although one place you mentioned we are not saved. But I think the Bible word for being unsaved is what?
What's the Bible word?
That's one more Yes, there's nothing wrong with that.
Lost, lost, lost. But we don't like the sound of that word, so we take. He doesn't say, but what we really mean is these lost lots. Well, doesn't that word have a normal sound for it? I'm lost. I'm lost.
And you know, I just put a terror in my heart in a way to pull that out. Lost.
Look, all I could hear was.
Coyotes answer this.
Well pretty soon the I thought, you know I got to find the and here's a good tip for you guys when you go hiking, If you go hiking and you never get lost and you're on a mountain or any high even ground to follow a river or a brook because they all go down and they all you won't go around in circles. You may go a long way doing it, but you won't get lost that way because they go right down eventually.
River leads to another river or to a lake. That's where usually there's some civilization. So we found a broker and I tried walking alongside of it that there were briars and they ripped our trousers, my legs and I was so tired. Pretty soon it got so bad. What do you think I had to do? I had to walk right in the the brook, right in the brook, and the rocks were slippery and I fell.
In the cold icy water and I began to be worried because I knew that being so tired and in my 40s that probably.
If I fell another time, I might break my leg. And then what would Peggy do? She couldn't carry me, that's for sure.
And I didn't say anything to her, but I was really worried.
Finally the the briars on the side disappeared and it was forest. It's very dangerous forest up there and people get lost every year out there. And I knew we were lost and I thought we'd never find it. They'll never find this. They'll climb out of the water and again and there's a little clearing and we went and sat down on the log and I said, Pecky, let's pray again.
And you know, I thought it was another nice verse than it's some 50 and verse 15.
Psalm 50 and verse 15. Somebody find that quickly for me, yes.
Let's see you read one. You never didn't read 1 yet, did you? All right, let's let him read. You wouldn't mind dealing to him, would you? That's nice.
Well, let me tell you and call upon me in the day of trouble I have delivered to you. And now I'll start working. Call upon me in the day of trouble. Was that a day of trouble?
You're a better believer. In the day of trouble. I will deliver these. Thou shalt glorify me.
But you know, I did a thing that I don't want to do. I felt absolutely asleep while we were praying. Now Peggy realizes something was really, seriously wrong because Daddy was so tired and fell asleep while we were praying. And I was praying out loud and I fell asleep. Sitting on that block. Peggy started to cry. And she says, Daddy, when we never get out, will we ever get out of here? Could I promise her we would get out.
All I could say to her is the Lord is living.
Lord, suddenly I lifted my eyes up and the sun was setting, getting dark and cold, and it goes down into 40s there, you know? Uh, even in the summertime, in the low 40s, and sometimes even down to freezing on that mountain at night. We didn't have any clothes on for that. No place to hide. Suddenly I lifted up my eyes There. What do you think? I saw the sun shining on something. Well, since you know the answer, I'm going to see if he knows first. All right, What?
00:35:03
No, Katie.
Saw the sun shining on the roof. Metal roof of the cabinet.
OK, wonder what that is? So we.
The last ounce of sprinkling climbed up a little hill and there was 100 cabins.
Oh, thank you. The word for that cat. But I didn't know where it was. Not in the middle of nowhere. And what else was wrong. It was, surely.
Purely locked.
Well, the children arrived back home and mom finally called the state police.
And they were organizing a search party to come look for me and.
They, uh, Keith was going to go look for me too, and they sounded the sirens on the police cars to try to give him some sound where we were, where they were and uh.
Coyotes answered the the sirens the same way they answered me. But finally I realized, well, we're gonna get through the night. I better kick open the store and with all my night, I broke the door. Now that isn't a good idea to do somebody's house, but this is on state property and it was an emergency and we didn't write them and walk in and fix it for them. Afterwards they said no. That happens every once in a while. We're happy to do this there, but we got in.
And build a fire. The Lord provided fire uh wood in there and papers, newspapers and uh. We had our clothes were all wet and ripped and everything. We laid down the revenge and mattresses in the hunters cabins and we slept in and the next morning we set out if there's some coffee that was even in there. I got some fresh water out of the brook and made some coffee and put some sugar in it so we have some strength and.
We decided to set out again. Now we had a choice. I heard some trucks over this way.
And here was the river going this way. So we had to decide what to do. And I was mighty tired of walking in that river and so I decided it would be nice to go the noise in the truck. So I let Peggy decide. She says let's follow the noise in the trucks. So we did and ended up on the road. And then I tried to hitchhike back. But you know, people see a madman come out of the forest grip, his legs bleeding and.
Beard on him and a little girl with him. He thinks that it must be a madman that that uh, kidnapped the little girl so.
Truck drivers just went right on five without even stopping.
Finally, a lady stopped, and she not. I just like the word for that Lady that she stopped. She took us into her car and explained what happened. She says, oh, you must be the ones at the state police are looking for. So she heard it on the radio and we stopped the highway department's truck and he radioed to the state police and told them we were safe. We got back. And what do you think? The first thing we did when we got back to Mrs. Gorgas was in the children. What do you think the first thing we did with?
Right. What did we do? We glorified the Lord.
Because he delivered us well, I thought you might be interested in that story, and uh, even I'm sorry you had to hear it again. But uh, because they've heard it these times before. But uh, isn't that wonderful how the Lord teaches us out of experiences like that, That there is a way that seems right into a man, but the end thereof are the ways of God?
Telling you that story is don't trust your own way to get to heaven, doing what seems right to your construction where Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and be like.
There are few Sunday school papers on the table. We don't have enough for any everybody, so if you take one for a family, I think there should be enough. Umm, there is coffee available downstairs so those can get this morning.
And I'm drinking it from all of them. I'll drink it at 10:45.
So I'm going to go to that 25 minutes, United everyone or in that sink a little early.
And launch is scheduled for about 12:15 12/20 today, so.
00:40:01
You might as well keep that. We'll bring that book back to the table, please.

9th chapter.
The 22nd verse An arrow lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them. He came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offerings and the peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the Tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people. And the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the people. And there came a fire out from before the Lord, and consumed upon the altar.
The bird offering, and the fact which when all the people saw, they shouted and fell on their faces, and made-up and abide you the sons of Aaron, took either of them their censor, and put fire there in, and put in the sense they're on, and offered strange fire before the Lord, that you commanded them not. And there were no fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. Then Moses said unto Aaron.
This is it, that the Lord's face saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh unto come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Michelin Halifax, and the sons of Alveoli uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come here, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coast of the camp, as Moses had said.
Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eliezer, and unto Isamar his son.
Uncover. Knock your head, neither range your clothes, lest she's eyes. Let us wrath come upon all the people, but let your brethren, the whole House of Israel, be wailed, a burning which the Lord hath kindled.
He shall not blow out from the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation, lest he die, for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses, No Lord spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine or strong drink.
1000 Or thy sons with thee, when you go into the Tabernacle of the convocation, lest she die, she'll be a statue forever throughout your generations, And that she may put difference between holy and unholy, between unclean and clean, And that he may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord has sent unto them by the hand of Moses. Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eliezer, and unto Islamar.
00:05:12
Is sons that were left, uh, take the meat off. For that remain about the offerings of the Lord made by fire. And I need it without leaven beside the older, or it is most holy, and ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy view, and thy sends you and the sacrifices of the Lord made by fire. For so I am commanded, and the wave breast and heave shoulder shall eat in a clean place. Now thy son thy daughter's with me.
The ladies I do, and my sons do, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel, the heaved shoulder, and the waved breath shall they bring with the offering made by fire of the fast to wait for a wave offering before the Lord, and it shall be 9 And thy sons with thee by a statue forever, as the Lord hath commanded, and move us diligently, thought the goal of the thin offering, and behold, it was burnt.
And he was angry with Eliezer Nipamar, the sons of Aaron, which were left alive, saying her friend he not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy. And God hath given that you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the Lord. Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place. He should indeed have eaten it in the Holy Place as I commanded.
And Aaron said unto Moses, beholdeth day, have they offered their sin offering, and their burnt offering before the Lord? And such things have befallen me. And if I had eaten the thin offering today, it had been accepted in the sight of the Lord. And when Moses heard that, he was content.
Well, I think we all know there's a wonderful order in the word of God, and it's very beautiful. We find constantly through the scripture that purpose comes before responsibility. And so we see in the opening chapters of Leviticus the different offerings and all the details connected with them brought before us. And then when we come to the 9th chapter, we see a picture of the Day of Glory that's coming for that nation.
Isn't that wonderful presence? No. That all the promises of God in him are ye and in him Amen to the glory of God by us. That God has provided a way that full of blessing is going to come to every redeemed one here. We know it's Israel, but we can identify ourselves as brought into blessing, not by the sacrifices of animals or birds. With Israel bought by the precious blood of Christ, what a place of blessing has been purposed for us.
Is anything that man has done any failure going to hinder the fulfillment of that? We lost Silicon to the day when the church shall be presented A glorious church, not having spots or wrinkles or any such thing, and God gives us a little picture, our brother said briefly this morning. A little of these things that we have brought before us in these different sacrifices. There were five different ones that he mentioned.
First of all we have the burnt offering, but the work of Christ is to the heart of God, and then we have the meat offering. Speaking of the Lord's perfect humanity, he became a man in order that he might fulfill and accomplish the purposes of God. And then the last two are the trespass offering and the sin offering. And then in between those five in the middle we have the peace offering could be called.
The communion offering. So the first two really present to us, God side, the other two our side and isn't wonderful. We've been reconciled to God by the death of his Son so that we can enjoy communion because God has been fully glorified and our need has been fully met through the work of the Lord Jesus. You know, men may look at the Bible just as a recording of ancient customs, but for us it's a precious book.
That reveals to us the heart of God, his purposes of blessing. And then even when failure comes in, we'll notice how he still wanted to bless the people and brother. Not what the things are hard because we have a tendency to sort of give up and we see the breakdown of what is committed to man. But what will enable us to go on is the confidence that God's purposes are going to be fulfilled, and they want you and I to be in the channel of his thoughts.
00:10:11
So that we can enter into and enjoy all these precious things. The word offering comes first, and some may have heard me use this little illustration again, but I hope I'll bear repeating because we often speak of how our worship is in the bird offering character. It's wonderful to know that our debt has been paid, pictured, and has been offering in the trespass offering, but it's a blessing to know that the heart of God is told out in the way it has been done.
I sometimes use this simple illustration, supposing that I owe a great debt and I'm not able to pay it. I don't like to meet my creditor because it bothers me knowing that this debt is outstanding and it's not paid.
Well, someone comes along and says I'll pay it for you. Gordon. Give me the bills and I'll pay it. So he pays it for me. I get a receipt, Mark paid in full. But I still haven't learned anything about my creditor. Does he like me or does he not?
Does he love me? Does he care about me? I know he's satisfied because the full payment has been made, but there's more than that present than the full payment was made. Who was it that made the payment? So I suppose that.
Our creditor has a son and he turns to his son and says I love that man, I love that Gordon Hagel.
Would you be willing to sell your house? We'll raise the money so we can.
Take this debt off our books, and if you do that, I'll send them a receipt in the mail and I'll mark it paid in full through the kindness of my son. How do I feel when I get a receipt like that? Isn't that more than knowing that my debt is paid and learning to know my creditor? I learned to know his son that he was willing to do this in order to tell his father's love and his own love to me rather than you and I will never really appreciate.
The work of calibre unless we see how the heart of God is told them he's going to, he's finding his engine of joy. In Zephaniah, brother was mentioning about Zephaniah and I think it's very lovely. In Zephaniah it says that the Lord in the midst of thee is mighty and then it says heal joy over thee. Was thinking he'll rest into love. It's true he brought evil to life in that same chapter.
But he's going to rest in his love because it was all his own love.
Never need the Father sent the Son be the Savior of the world. If we just rejoice that our debt is paid, that's a great delivery. But God wants more than that. He wants us to know His heart. So we see the heart of God told out in the burnt offering. We see Him at a cost. The Lord Jesus, He became a man and through all that something that we remembered this morning, that we might know his heart.
It's true, our sins and trespasses were all met at the cross, but to bring those two together, the peace offering, we have joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom he had now received the reconciliation, or what a place we've been brought into. Well, this is brought before us in the opening chapters a little bit, he said. And then if we were to read the whole 9th chapter, we would see that the sons of Aaron presents the blood and the holy ground of blessing for Israel has laid.
And then the glory appears to all people. What was the day coming for Israel when they're going to see the heart of God in their blessings and a wonderful way, and the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord? Is the waters cover the sea? There's a tremendous day of blessing. How do I get to apply it to ourselves? God has purposes of blessing, brethren. Everyone of us who are believers love.
Here we see a few of us here.
It will be a glory of dead. It might be today, when the whole living company will be around him entering in to inform us what we now only know in part. And God gives the whole picture the ground of our blessing, a vision of coming glory. Because it says where no vision is, the people perish, and if you ride lose a vision of that glory of awaits us. We're going to get the Spirit, because this chapter presents to us what would really discourage us after all this unfolding.
00:15:03
Of what was in the heart of God for Israel.
As soon as responsibility comes down, it breaks down. Man breaks down. He's a failure and everything committed to him from the very beginning. And the Church is no different. Those gathered through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Wonderful privilege of Bernoulli, We fail.
We don't maintain that which is for God's glory and for the blessing of his people. The God failed. Does he say he can't have a portion just because the church has failed? No happens. He wants us to be in the enjoyment of what is in his heart, even lower breath and broken because not only of the failure that's come in, but of our own partner in this world city. Well, how lovely it is to see this brought out in this chapter. So I just mentioned that at the end of the ninth chapter we have.
The coming Day of Glory in picture for April.
But then the sense chapter begins with responsibility. And here are two men in a wonderful place of privilege, sons of Aaron given a great place and brethren, as we had in the previous meetings, What a place is village brother brought before us. How the man buried the piece of water brought them to the place that the Lord had chosen, and our daughter brought before us to.
Well, let's, uh, those beautiful thoughts in connection with one of them committed to us and the privilege of carrying them here, so to speak, in an enemy's land to the day that they're brought to the heavenly Jerusalem. How is we going before us? And so when we see here that these two privileged people, they haven't allowed you, they offered strange fire before the Lord. Perhaps some might wonder just what this means.
Strange fire. Well, God had a special message to Israel that when they burned the incense, they were to be careful that the fire came from the altar of burned offering. Oh, you might say. Well, wouldn't make any difference today in sense of smell. The same no matter where the fire came from. Well, perhaps man might have distinguished any difference, but it was very different to the heart of God. And then she would put it this way.
It is how well we can sing. It isn't how well we can express ourselves, but it's whether what we enjoy, what we sing is because we have entered into in some little measure, what was accomplished at the Cross of Calvary for our blessing. No, we could introduce brand music here. We could bring in all of your trained singers and people. That's right. Oh, I just love to listen to that, but.
Unless the melody comes from your heart and mine produced by the Spirit of God, it has no value in the sight of God. No heart but of the spirit of thought makes no disease. So strange fire was that they got the fire for this incense from other than where God had intended Christmas. Full of all this because it's very nice to have trained singers and all kinds of.
Instruments and everything, but it says we are the Circumcision which worship God by the Spirit.
And rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh. And it's the measure in which you and I were rejoicing in Christ Jesus. And how about we could express ourselves, or how well we could sing. But whether our hearts were rising up in praise and Thanksgiving as we do those animals on the table and spoke to us of our precious Savior giving His body.
Gap shedding his legs, we might be black.
Oh, how beautiful it is. Well, they offered strange fire. A fire went out from the Lord and they died. I say again, failure came in now and this was was it all over for Israel? Was it? Was it ended because they say, well, what's been committed to us, we have failed in Now God has a way of showing blessing to his people in spite of all that we are. And here we were.
This morning, because your brother mentioned to me the right now shall be very small and feeble, huge song, but holy delight, the mass which goes on, which seeks to give him his rightful place. So in the third verse Moses said unto Aaron's.
00:20:07
This is that the Lord's faith, saying, I will be sanctified in them and come nigh me, and before all the people will I be glorified. And Aaron held his feet. He recognized that when we come together, it isn't for human glory, it's for his glory.
For that we always have before us that think we mentioned a little bit of it yesterday. Now the truth of God always gives glory to Christ and puts out in our true place.
And so it says, I'll be sanctified and those that come near under me. Brilliant. It's a great privilege to be gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus, but it's a great responsibility too. It's a great responsibility. And we must never forget that the lion who is in the village is holy and true.
Some of HMMD. I believe it was yesterday, too. What is it that often keeps numbers small? It's discipline when we seek to maintain anything, that's for God's glory. The enemy is going to put all the difficulties in the way that he can. And so the Lord said to Moses said to her, Lord said, I'll be sanctified and then come nine to be for all people, I'd be glorified. And Aaron held his face. He just, He didn't say anything. Here we see.
If he's dying to him.
No, our natural hearts don't like submission, but it's the way of blasting. It's the way of blasting, Brethren. Even in believing the gospel, it says for obedience to the faith among all nations, God requires the submission of my mind to His truth. And when we receive the truth of God, we find we have to submit our minds to what God has said. We say, well, it doesn't seem to work.
On either of a large Christian group, when he heard the truth ministered about the ground of gathering, he said that it's all very nice, but it would never work. No, it won't work in men's planning because it doesn't give man any play. But God will be glorified, and you and I must be the master who we submit our minds casting down reasons and every high thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.
And bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. And I want to say that verse comes in, in connection with discipline. In the Corinthian assembly, some might have said, we don't like to do that, We don't like to carry our discipline on that man because we're not any better than he did. But we had to submit without going, God said not because we're better, brethren, but because the holiness of the one who is in the past.
Demands it. They ever get to think we're better in the Lord Left to show us we're not Peter, who is the one who thought he was better than the rest. He really said to the Lord, Lord, I'm the best. Recycle you have the others. Might all deny thee, but not me.
Let him think of these standards. Take heed. Let's see. We can't keep ourselves. Only the Lord we keep us in our daily prayers should be preserved. Me, O God for individual, I put my trust.
But then we find here that.
In the sixth verse, and Moses underwear in the nonduelizer and Isamar his son, and cover not your heads with either rend your clothes, lest you die.
Let's Rev. Come upon all the people. But let your bread in the whole House of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord hath handled. Ye shall not follow you from the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation, lest he died to the anointing. Look, oil of the Lord is upon you. And they did.
According to the word of Moses, I think there's a little word here, and I think we all feel it. At a time when difficulty comes in, we just feel so discouraged that become more of the morning and we feel so. I just can't open my mouth and pray to the Lord. I'm slow down over all things that have happened and there was a danger of Moses and Aaron, whom God had given this wonderful place that we have in our chapter. Now every believer is a priest.
Every believer is a priest. Should you and I allow the difficulties that come in among us, that have come in among us to hinder our joy and going on in the presence of the Lord gathering, The Lord hasn't changed. Brethren can't give him praise. Can't we open our mouths and Thanksgiving and praise to him? There's a great danger of wanting to just give up because all the difficulties that have come in and come in.
00:25:19
And I believe that's one of the things the enemy wants. He wants to hinder our communion with the Lord. We want you to hinder our joy in the Lord. And so if he can do that and get us discouraged, she's really accomplished something. And another thing too, I think that if you can hinder our joy, then he hinders the outgoing of the gospel. I have felt very much that what is coming among us of ways, the enemy is using it to keep us from having.
Happy meetings where we are enjoying the Lord's presence and in our personal lives, walking in communion with Him, getting occupied with all the difficulties. And we are occupied with that to the extent that we cannot enjoy the Lord like we should. And then secondly, to get the philosophy we use our joy and testifying to others around about us, because as Mr. Darby said, that our testimony to the world is our joy in the Lord.
And when we speak to sinners and we don't let them see that we have found happiness and joy in the Lord, where they they're going to say, well, I don't know whether I want that, but if they see that it's brought teeth and happiness to us and they make you realize that God has a portion. When we believe the gospel of Phil, hearts fill, the hearts overflowing.
Need to believe upon me is the scripture has fed out of his belly.
Shall fall rivers of living water. How does belly mean that? And we're enjoying it ourselves. And now it's flowing out and blessing to others. So I didn't like to drop this little word for myself as well As for others. Here. Are we allowing the difficulty India assembly to end your praise as we gather on Lord's Day morning. Are we hinder? Are we allowing these difficulties to go dull our spirits that we can't Hardly.
Speak to centers because we're not enjoying the Lord. So he said, don't stop here. Don't put off your garment. You have a responsibility before the Lord and He's one of us. Have a responsibility as well as a privilege. When we come into His presence, every one of you have to stop and have a hand on the bathroom. Everyone. Another verse in the Old Testament says none shall appear before me empty.
None shall appear before me empty. We ought to be filled with Thanksgiving, and perhaps even a failure has given us to understand in a deeper way that the Lord loves us in spite of all the arms. So let us not allow the difficulties would come in among the people of God.
To rob us of the precious privilege of going in that says he shall not gloat them from the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation.
I've seen quite a few ones that I love and they say, oh, there's so much trouble, they just stopped coming or they fit quiet, there's no praise in their hearts. All the enemy has taken the victory on that takes place.
And then it says, May 1St. And the Lord spake unto mole, Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine, or strong drink down, or thy sons with thee. When you go into the Tabernacle of the congregation, lest he die, she'll be fat you forever throughout your generation. I believe the spring is before us, the thought that things that excite nature, how the meetings get a little bit dull.
I would think if we had a little music and something like that, like we'll make the meeting more interesting and that's what we see constantly all around us. These kind of things creep in. Why? Because we're not enjoying the Lord like we should. So we think we've got to bring in something that really excites nature. I might just say someone might ask, well, why did God give that in the Old Testament? Well, because he was testing them.
Would a fine building make man a worshiper? God gave instructions for the groundless building that was ever built.
In this world for worship? And did it change the heart of man?
When the when the temple is dedicated, it was just one instrument. There were 120 priests down in the trumpets besides other instruments. Surely it was a grand, glorious occasion to change the heart of the people.
00:30:13
Man was under trial and God gave all that to men under the law to show that the very best law, the very grandest building, the beautiful Rd. the sweet smelling incense music didn't change the heart of man. The God has started over again. In Christianity the true worshippers worship the Father in spirit and in truth.
Now we have the privilege of coming with hearts overflowing.
And that's what so our God is so they were not in. We find that any Christian who started out in very simple worship brought in one thing and another in order to excite nature to fill in for what is lacking. President, let's get back into the Lord's presence. Heavenly God, plenty to enjoy and himself. My wife said I can't enjoy your love, you know, unless you get me a Hammond organ, I'd say. Well, I guess it's a Hammond organ, not the.
Love that you really enjoy.
And develop and trouble with us when our lung gets down, we think we've got to have something to bolster it. And that says that you may put difference between holy and unholy, between clean and unclean. Those things that bring in that tend to lessen our exercise about what pleases the Lord, what pleases the Lord. That's the thing. That's not the plan.
Lord, when, uh, the Lord met Saul of Tarsus on the roads of Damascus, he said, Lord, thought, will thou have me to do? And the Lord said, it shall be shown me what thou must do. Is this your daily prayer of mine, or would we have some standards of our own that we would like to introduce? Or we really asking in every situation, what does the Lord want me to do? I believe that's very important.
Because those things that bring in nature in a place for that always less than our appreciation of the holiness that becomes God's house. So it tells us here that you may put the difference and that in the 11 first, and then she may teach the children of Israel.
All the statutes which the Lord has spoken unto them by the hand of Moses, well, this also is in keeping with what our brother brought before us.
By the truth and tell it not, for they to change the things and floor it down, because failure has come in and say, well, we've got to lower it down a little bit, because we're all sailing things at best. Now you were to teach all the statues which the Lord has spoken. May the Lord say unto you, and I will seek to do the will of God. And what do you have shown us in His word?
He'll be what directs our paths and all. I waved. Acknowledge him.
And he shall direct thy path. I believe, brethren, that there's instruction for everything in our lives in this lesson book. It says, His divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness. And there isn't anything in your life and mine where we need direction, that we won't find direction in the word of God for our pathway. And those who took the place, shall I say, a leadership, and the people of God were too.
Instruct those the shoulders of Israel.
They could easily said. Well, failure has come in. You can't be too interesting upon those things. Or some little statues we'll have to let slip. Now. God bears with our failure, as I say, but he never lowers his standard. He makes provision for our Father, but he never lowers his standards When he brought Joshua into the land and he said that they would obey, oh, those things that the Lord had given.
Oh, may we?
Maybe we do do this in our lives. And I've often said, and it's a joy in my own heart too, that there's one thing that God has asked us to do but the new man doesn't want, doesn't want to do. I always used to take courage. If I ever brought before any Christian the path of God had marked up in his word and knew that inside of him there was a heart that was saying I want to do it.
00:35:09
There's the old man there that resists the truth of God.
And the flight even in the Christian will resist the truth of God. But there is in the heart of every young person and every older one here a heart which responds to the Lords claim the Lord Jesus found his delight in doing the will of God. And you and I have that within us.
I believe Paul referred to that in Second Corinthians chapter 3 when he said and such trust have we through Christ to Godward. That is, he was comparing the law written on tables of stone to the claims of Christ written upon the heart when you ask a question.
To do something to please the Lord. You're not counting that on the tablespoon you're you're seeking to bring before him what touches his heart, and the heart responds to love somebody.
And they want us to do something. They say, oh, it'll be a pleasure to do it for that person. He's done so much for me, so breathing. What did the Lord do for us himself? He gave our poor heart to win with every love, Lord like thine. And so it says here that they were to teach all these statues. And then it's kind of 12Th verse. Moses take unto Aaron and unto Eliezer and Embezzamar his sons that were last. Take the media offering the remaineth of the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and even without leaven beside the altar.
For it is most holy, and ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is I do and thy Son do a false of the sacrifices of the Lord made by fire. For so am I commanded when we speak about feeding on Christ. And as we mentioned, the meat offering is the Lord perfect humanity. It actually was a meal offering, as I think many of us know, And it says it was a fine flower.
Someone has had no lungs in it. In other words, every grace in the Lord Jesus was equal with some people. You say only a very generous person, not the very thoughtful person, not the very kind person. We think of some outstanding virtue, and it's nice to see that in our brethren too. But in the Lord Jesus, everyone was perfect. There was an evenness about him if faithfulness was required.
How faithfully could speak if love was required for how loving he could speak.
The tenderness, like the grave of Lazarus, would require it to leak there at the grave of Lazarus.
You and I need a perfect pattern. We, perhaps many of us, might excel in one thing and fail badly among others. Let's feed on today and He'll give us grace, he say. It's a hard situation. I could overlook it if it wasn't this and that. But every grade was equal in the Lord's evil and I think it's beautiful. Are you and I feeding on him as we need? Offering. He left us an example that we should follow His steps.
He walked through this world, and because of this it says he's a merciful and faithful high priest. I like to think of that, that when you come and talk to somebody who's never been in your circumstance, you may say, well, it doesn't understand. He was never in this situation that I'm in. But when we go to the Lord Jacob, he passed through everything that a righteous man could go through. He was hungry, He was thirsty. He was rejected.
He was wounded by people that he loved, all those things he went through, and he looks down on us and when we asked him for help, he says, I know what you're going through. I was through the thing. And he glorified his Father in every situation. Let's not compare ourselves with others. If we do, we'll go wrong because we all failed at best for four failing things. But are you and I feeding them from the media offering on the Lord Jesus?
And when those kind of situations arise in our lives until we say, well, the Lord will give grace for this, He's living up there for me. So being reconciled, we're saved by his leg. That is, we have been reconciled through the death of God's Son, but He reconciled were saved by his life. That is, He's up there. And now how could we ever get through the wilderness in our own strength?
00:40:02
Only the person living for us up there.
The right hand of God, our great High Priest, and our application. And so he invites us to come boldly to the throne of grace. We often say, I can't do it. I take it enough. But the Lord Jesus is up there, and he says I'll supply the grace that you need. If you fail and restore it, he restore us to my soul. He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his namesake. Now the 14th verse, it says.
And the wave breast and the heaved shoulders shall eat in a clean place Thou thy sons, and thy daughters with thee, for they be thy view, and thy sons do but you're good about the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel. I think this is very wealthy, brother.
He spoke about how Aaron must have been crushed when his two sons offered strange fire and he was smitten dead.
Cross felt like giving up and the Lord said don't give up, just go on in your service for the people of God. And then he tells us in these verses I believe what is what's the thing though? The wave grass is the affections of Christ and the heaved shoulder is his strength to carry us through. He said. I can't do it another day. I can't send it to his shoulder or to be their portion. And it says if I do.
And my son and my daughter and I say to your sisters, you don't realize what an influence you have upon the brothers. You don't realize.
It's very interesting in the in the very fifth song we have. Well, in the 44th song we have a complete breakdown instead of people were sold for not with a complete breakdown on the 44th song. A little vision of coming glory in the 45th Psalm.
My heart is inviting a good manner. I speak of the things which I have made touching a king. A little view of the time when the Israel as the earthly people with gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought and enter into the King's palace. And the 46th song is a unique song according to some of the early writers. I don't understand how to read some Hebrew, but according to some of the early writers it has a unique title and it says.
Uh.
46 on says.
A song upon Alamos. That's the only one of the whole 150 that it has that heading. And according to one of the early writers who I believe knew about these things, he said those are probably women's places because it really means soprano. And he says there were women singers and it's lovely. That's beautiful song. It says God is our refuge and strength.
Therefore will not be fail, while the earth can be removed, while the mountains be cast into the midst of the sea. And it paints a picture of everything seeming to go to pieces. And here are women singers. They're singing Gods are wreckage and strength. I think that's why that's brought in. Here it's not only the not only the priest, but their sons and my sons do.
Practice brings in family life too.
How can we talk about our family? Who are you? Rejoice in the fact that the Lord is our strength, that He's going to see us through all these problems that we're having to face.
These may be thy view and thy son of ours, isn't it? What? What do you and I enjoy? There's power carries up on his shoulders of strength on his heart of blood. He'll see us through brethren, as we often sing. He'll bring us home at length.
We'll be announced glory of things. I want to encourage you how, dear sisters, that you can say a little word of encouragement. What brothers will ever say, that hasn't been from sister, that several words that spoke a word of encouragement instead of discouragement. And so maybe I do something that's given to us and it says here.
In the 15th verse, so he's breath, and the waves shoulder shall they bring with the offerings made by fire to wave it for a wave often before the Lord, and it shall be thine, and thy sons with thee.
00:45:09
By a statute forever, all those things get worse than more depressing and down it's a statue forever. The Lord Jesus will never change. Does he have strength to meet us in all our difficulties that we face? We break down. We say handle these problems too much for us, but there's a huge shoulder and there's a wave rest that he ever speaks to love, having loved his own, which were in the world.
He loved him under the end. The New Testament in the 13th chapter of John that says, having lost his own in the world, he loved him unto the end. And then the other verse in the 31St of Deuteronomy. I have loved even everlasting love. Therefore with loving kindness have I drawn me. This is our view. We're entitled to enjoy this always say how, Cathy, when everything goes to pieces of course hasn't changed. I am the Lord, I change not.
Therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. So here this was given to them. I want you to notice these things. You want them to give up his priestly service. He wasn't to resort to something else to find relief in his trouble. Let's what's all this sorrow? Was jealous of David. And so he got somebody to play harp, to get sort of these thoughts out of his mind. But you and I have a different resource. Our resource is in the Lord, in Him. And so here there are as I do and thy sons do.
So now I'd like to know if these uh last verses here and mold moles of diligently sought to go to the sin offering and behold it was burned. And he was angry with Eliezer and Isamar, the sons of Aaron that were led which were left alive staying forever. He not eaten the thin offering in the whole place. He is most holy, and God has given it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation and to make a film before them before the Lord.
I believe we have the first failure of Aaron's son in the fact that they, these two men made-up in a Bayou, offered strange fire. But here are the ones that were left They didn't eat the sin offering. You know, there's a danger of us in this, getting occupied with ourselves and thinking that we're the faithfulness, but we need to take our plate. And so it tells us that when they offered the thin offering.
Uh, they were to eat the thin offering in the holy place. In other words, we're no better than anybody else.
I remember reading in Mr. Darby won the great divisions of place among the people of God. He said it was because the Saints were lifted up, and brethren, maybe we have them. We should be thankful for the position the Lord has given to us, the great privilege of being gathered to His name. But if we begin to think for anybody the Lord has to land. The Lord has to make us realize.
That were nothing. And unless we do that, there's many things that many other Christian has done that you or I'm not capable of doing. We have the seed of every evil in our own heart. And so whenever the Lord has had to deal with something in our midst, we need to eat a thin offering. And it tells us here that Moses was angry because he hadn't done it. He wasn't pleased. Perhaps they didn't realize that they could have done the same themselves.
Only the grace of God that had preserved the other two.
They could easily have done it, or perhaps you know better.
And someone said, and discipline takes place in your family, said, Imagine senators judging things. Why didn't we do it? Because we were better. Because we wouldn't do it, you know, because the Lord in the midst is coming, not because we're any better. And if we are, that's why it says, I didn't think of these families, say heed lest he falls. The Lord has dealt with them. He has dealt with us, dealt with us. And if we begin to get some complacent here, feeling that we have remained faithful, Lord will have to show us everything.
Only he can keep up. Truly we need to say preserve the old gods and be do I put myself And so they hadn't kind of they failed in that and maybe how we should be recognizing this too. But now there's something very lovely that comes in here at the end.
That's here.
From the 19 first.
00:50:01
Day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the Lord, And good things have befallen me, and if I had eaten the sin offering today, should it have been accepted in the sight of the Lord?
You know it's here that Moses was angry with Eliezer and Itamar, but who answered?
It was there on the back seat, Aaron, that answered.
This is to me, this is very lovely. They are an answer for them. And so we have a great high priest and we have an advocate. We have failed. We have them responded to the Lord's claims like we should. We haven't really identified ourselves with failure. And so when they have failed, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ. There is one there who is before God. He's there to supply grace to help and kind of need.
And when we failed, he said, if we have an advocate with the fire, Jesus Christ, the righteous, well, how how blessed this is? So Aaron answered for them, and it says to know the spirit. Yet he was content we never get through, but depended on U.S. President, but depends on the face of the lung who has called us and brought us into a place of blessing, not only saves our souls, but we can rejoice with the privilege of nearness.
That these people enjoyed an interim place of nearness that was unique as far as that they were concerned. Far more of them that Israel are spoken out of the people near to him. They had a place of privilege. And so we have gathered the Lords name our daughter brought before us the precious deposit of food simplified in what those different ones carried from Babylon up to Jerusalem and had them weighed in. And there's been something committed to us.
That we have failed in doing it so.
We have that one who's ever living to make intercession, to supply the grace to help. Do we feel our weakness? He invites us to come boldly and get the help we need. Have we failed? Yes, we have failed. Oh, he's our advocate too. And so we find here that when all the furthest he was content. Another thing I believe is brought out here. It says if I had eaten that sent off and today should have been accepted before the Lord.
That is kind of God wants reality tell us about King Saul, that he forced himself to offer a sacrifice. God doesn't want us to kind of work something out. He looks for truth in the inward parts of.
We could, we could call him for a humiliation, but unless there's real humiliation in our hearts and has no value in the side of God, he wants reality. And so here it says he said If we eat this today, that has been accepted. We could say nice words and repeat things, but God lifts on the heart and the Lord searches each one of our hearts.
Knows how truly we feel, these things, how truly we're identified with them. Well, let's let's not forget the president that.
Wave ground and his shoulder. The enemy would like to rob us of the enjoyment of Christ and occupation was what is necessary to glorify the Lords name reliable to lose the enjoyment of His love. And I believe it's most important how that is the result of these meetings. Together we will go away rejoicing in the Lord. We can't say that we're wonderful people or that we have done this or that.
But we can rejoice inhaling, and we can look upon others who have perhaps missed the path and say, I could have known you too. It's only the grace of God that's kept me. And I just want to take the humble place, identify myself with all the ruin that come in, and rejoice in the Lord Alway. And again I rejoice. Well, brethren, may keep up in these last days. It is important that we buy the truth and tell it nice, but it's also important that we.
Acknowledge these things that are very important before the Lord, counting upon His faithfulness. Because there is a day coming and I say at the end when the church will be presented, A glorious church without spot or recurring or anything. Let's look on to that day and while we're left here, maybe not to lose the joy the Lord and our souls, maybe not lose that energy that would reach out to those around us.
00:55:11
And tell them the good news of God's salvation. Because the reason the Lord hasn't come as yet is because He's still going to gather him up, Still going to gather in others. I like that verse that says the Lord direct your heart into the love of God and into the patient waiting for Christ. Have a margin in your Bible. You notice that it reads the patient of the Christ. What? Who's more anxious?
To have his bride, we who are part of his bride or the Lord Jesus. She's more anxious than we are for the moment when the Father has come, he's more anxious. Why is he awaited? I'm glad he waited for me. Maybe he's waiting for someone in this very room.
You might be waiting for someone here to receive him a failure. And the Lord is saying, if I can wait patiently to have my bride almost 2000 years to be patient, but occupy till I come, hold fast and come Remember Me until I come. Be patient therefore, my brethren, under the coming of the Lord.
It's a good thing that 286 Soon now we'll come again, Jesus our Lord. We shall be happy, Jesus our Lord, and we thy faith shall see, and we shall lay thee then evermore with thee, Jesus our Lord.

OK umm, I'd like to turn into the Romans chapter 8.
Romans, chapter 8.
And verse 33.
No, I'm sorry, sorry. Verse 3031 begin at verse 31.
What shall we then say to these things?
If God be for us, who can be against us?
Have you ever asked yourself that question? There's a little word there. I.
I have in in times of distress trial perhaps?
I've asked myself, is God really for me?
And I'm sure each one of us in our trials and difficulties which we all have and to some degree particularly in the last few months.
Then we asked that question.
If God be for us.
What shall we say to these things? If God before us, who can be against us?
Well, beloved things have gone. He is for us. You don't need to question that at all. Of course, when the trials come, we become and people buy it. We begin to look around, we begin to look within. We begin to look at others, we begin to look at man. But that little phrase?
If God be for us, who can be against us? And I, I don't want to go into I want to go at the end of this chapter, but just notice is God for us.
He certainly is, because we find here so many verses that could be read. But I want to turn to a few verses in the Psalms to fit in with this. But it says either spared not his own son in verse 32. He that spared not his own son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not?
Give us all things that is not what it says.
How shall he not with him give us all things?
In the trials, do I forget his matchless and marvelous grave?
Have I forgotten all that he went through and on the crossing there where he suffered those untold agonies for my sins?
You know your your Saints of God, God could not give you or me anything apart from the fact that we belong to Christ. And it says he is feared not his own son, but delivered him up. First of all, how shall he not with him really give us all things with him. That's right Mike, it's with him and no one else.
To my soul, this is exceedingly precious.
Because this poor individual couldn't have anything apart from it.
The Lord Jesus Christ. But there's there's many more verses that could be read here because it's a challenge, isn't it, to all that might come in the pathway of which we found even as of today, we find in our pathway many things that that concern us. We find many things that discourage us. But as we look up, we see that blessed one still on the throne, still there, and he's there without one of your sins.
All right, they're gone.
Does he love us? He's proved that love in so many ways. I think sometimes when we think of this, we think of this. Sometimes we repeat these things over and over. And sometimes I think we we forget the the preciousness, the the eternity, the glorious work that the Lord Jesus did on the ground for us, but not only so this very moment he's living for you.
And for you?
I don't need that. He he hasn't forgotten this at all. He isn't for us, not only in his death. I I think of that I was going over this sometime back. He's for us in the death of his son.
He is for us in the resurrection of His Son. He's for us also in the gifts of the Holy Ghost.
00:05:02
For us in presenting to us is precious Word and the Spirit of God, and goodness is God for us.
Indeed he is. And if you go to the end of this chapter, we find that everything is challenged. It says Verse. The first thing is who is he that condemned?
Have you ever been, uh, some have condemned those that keep people on the road? Have you ever been condemned by that?
But who can condemn them? It says Christ.
Who is he that condemned? It is Christ that died. Very interesting too to know that you will never have peace until you see not only did Christ has died for you, but if you have died with Christ, that is people. That's the difference between life and people. I look at the cross of Christ and I say He died for me.
That's the red thing.
But then they come to Georgia, and I crossed that Georgia, and now I say I died here. That is peace. That is peace, peace for the soul. And so we see here not only it says he that Christ died, but rather that is risen again, Who is even at the right hand of God, who now he maketh intercession for us. And then he speaks. He brings up the thought of separation, who shall separate us from the love of God and anything, And he challenges all this tribulation.
Depressed persecution. Have you ever had these things? I have. I'm sure you have too.
Can this separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our heart? No, no.
Nakedness or parallel persecution or or famine. We have the outer things and then we also have the inward things, the inward powers that come in. And I believe we are affected by that also. The outward thing, tribulation, distress, persecution, family, nakedness. Those are outward things, aren't they? Not too much, not too many of us know much about that. But now we come down to verse 38. Verse and it says, for I am persuaded.
That neither death, nor light, nor powers, nor principalities, nor powers, nor angels, nor things present, or things to come. These are the end. These are the inward things, are they not? And they separate us from the Lord of God. Now you know not at all. Well, I just want to go over to Psalm 56. You see David here in in his his distresses.
I'm 56 and the reception behind the received position upon.
Uh, Jonathan and so on. Umm, a mixture of David when the Philistines took him to Gap and David cried, he cries and he says, be merciful unto me, O God, for a man would swallow me up.
What what pride is this Here's David and it was literally So what David wasn't a man seeking to swallow him up and is it not so that there are the powers of evil that would keep to deter us and turn us aside and give us discouragement and disheartening in the very world in which we find our lot past here and the Lord Jesus is our precious savior and Lord he said for man would swallow me up. He's fighting daily oppressively.
Beloved Saints, the enemy will never give up. Never, never give up instead of.
David could stay here. He's fighting daily oppression. Our dear brother, we're speaking about breakfast this morning. No, our our work there is not a furniture. Remember this beloved thing. And as we go on, some of the younger ones here, as you go on in the truth of God, if you're desirous to please God, you're going to find that it is not just a skirmish that you can have today and tomorrow go on without any further troubles or cuts.
To take it is one.
Long battle. It's warfare.
Statement attacking from every enemy and he's attacking those that were desired so don't be discouraged by by that and think that it has to be one of the victory today and tomorrow. Well, it's all over for tomorrow. No, that is not so it's one that it's one warfare going on all throughout halfway here and it will never end. So the Lord Jesus comes as we our brother's been reminding us the coming of the Lord could take place this very day.
00:10:21
No, you'd be free of all these objections and all these things, but I just want to point out here a few things in connection with David. I don't want to take all the time, but it says my enemies would daily swallow me up, but they'd be many to fight against.
Crying to God, he's trying to crying to Jehovah. Help me you know, and he had he literally had enemies. It was it was always saw his life. He was thought as because of the partnership upon the mountain.
And the enemy would seek to turn upside. This is the same. We don't find the same persecution behavior. Umm, not in this plan at least. We're not threatened with the, with a machine gun where we, we're, we're threatened by the, by the cleverness of the enemy, because the fiery darts that are getting in and taking the turns aside. But I just want to show you here that the Lord then David begins to see he's crying here. He's just.
Verse 3.
What time? I'm afraid I will thrust in the I like that. I think that's beautiful. He comes back to thought for the lock, the thought of God. At what time are you free? Are we doing that? Are we fearful of the enemy's work? Well, let's cross the border. Let's go back, get back to the basics again. That precious truth. We've been reminded the others of that precious name, the name of Jesus even. Is he left? No, he has not.
He's not, He's still there. He's the gathering center. And so David here, he says I at at what time I'm afraid I will trust me in God, I will praise his word in God. I have put my trust. I will not fear what flesh can do under me. Every day they rest my words. All their thoughts are against me. Isn't that a picture? Isn't that a picture of what we find even in our own lives, in our own pathways today?
In a different way, of course not. They're not seeking us with again with guns, but they're seeking to count aside from following the Lord Jesus in the past year because they want to get us occupied with men but just go down.
Again, I see here go down to verse. Umm, there's much more could be said about this verse 10 in God will I praise his word in the Lord will I praise his word in God have I put my trust and I will not be afraid of a man who wants me. What a construct isn't it? Isn't this encouraging? It is my own story that I can I can not only God, I put my trust. He is my state, he's my friend, he's my glory.
What a what a what confidence is this and and not nothing to turn to the side unless we get looking around. But then notice what it says verse 12 my divorce upon me, O God, I will render praises unto me. It's interesting that David as he prized the Lord for mercy, he begins to see that he begins to look at the Lord and then he says, I will render praises unto people and notice the last of the 13th.
For thou hast delivered my soul.
OK.
That's he that for us, as he turns out, has delivered my soul from death. The Lord Jesus has already been through Calvary's crop. We want to work for me and if I look at that cross, I say the Lord Jesus Christ we're in all for me and he's my favorite and my Lord. Each one of us will confess Lord and take them as our Savior. Is he not able to keep our peace in the past, But again, I go back to our brother's thought of assimilating, making the Lord.
Putting the Lord Jesus first, to whom shall we go?
He is able not only not only he was able to save me from death, but he's also.
Able to deliver my seat and call.
That I may walk before God in the light.
Of my soul. These are just depression. They're they're very simple things. But I think as we read the precious word of God, we see how that we would just be encouraged if we see not only that Christ died for us, that he rose again and he seated in God's right hand. He's living for us, coming for us, and he's keeping us in the way. Remember Moses said, show me now thy way.
00:15:00
Show me not allowed.
And the Lord said to Moses, Come over here and stand beside me on this rock.
Here's where I launched it. You love it Seems that's where they're going from. On the spot of the rock table, he turned the loop. Jacker, 24.
Brother mentioned that cycle the way to Omega. We brought so much Christ before us.
But that we continue and continue on the same page. Luke chapter 24.
And all I've got to do is pick out some crazy.
Verse 15.
And it came to pass, that while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. Verse 27. And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them, and all the Scriptures, the things concerning himself.
Verse 36.
And as they must speak, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said unto them, Peace be unto you.
Don't turn to it, but I just want to call your attention that First Thessalonians chapter 4 and the Lord himself shall be changed.
I guess you get the feed now. The connection is Jesus.
First, here are these disciples.
Don't hump your dash saying hopes that it was he that was going to redeem Israel. They had hoped that the Kingdom was going to be established. Even James and John said Lord one on the right and one on the left hand. They were so expecting that the Kingdom was going to be at that time and now all our hopes are dashed. He did and we've heard reports that he's alive, but still things are not clear with them and all they're heavy hearted.
And Jesus himself drew near.
Is Jesus in our *?
I don't know what I told you this before, but one time I was helping out with Hitler and he went to a place called Black Harbor.
And at the house that we were staying, the lady said, you know, had an awful occurrence down the road a little bit. Just mainly committed suicide and funerals today or whatever it was. And so.
What had happened was that his father had given his son on his 16th birthday a year before this, or some month at least.
A moped, a motorbike, whatever. It was something of that nature.
And he went out within, I think, a very short time of possessing him.
And he cracked up and was killed.
The father brooded and brooded, and finally he took his life.
I walked by the house, there was a freight on the front door. I paced up and down. I wanted in the worst way to go and knock at the door.
Speak of some help and, uh, very timid as we are sometimes. Finally the Lord gave me enough strength to go up and I knocked on the door and the widow and several members of the family came and I said, I said, well, I'm with the tent.
Over on the other side of the town. And I said, I heard about this awful thing that's happened. And I said, I wanna come to you and I wanna tell you one thing, right? Because when John the Baptist in the Bible was beheaded, the disciples went and they told Jesus.
And I said, And when Mary and Martha and their brother was sick, now to death, they told Jesus.
And I said, and so now I said I would tell you at the time of your sorrow and hearty Jesus is the one that you could turn to, the one that can comfort and sustain them. And I left a couple of gospel tracks. They thanked me for coming. They were Roman Catholic in the background. Leave it with the Lord, add to the results. But all dear friends, the heartache and the sorrow that comes to us as the people of God, we're not immune to it.
But what? Where can we turn? So I can remember one time we went away. We lived in Wilmington. And my son Bobby, at that time was small and he played with another little boy, Bobby, in the neighborhood. And when we drove back up to the house and we've been away for a week, the kids in the neighborhood ran up and they said, Mr. Heissley, Mr. Heifing, Bobby Brown, the other little Bobby.
00:20:24
He drowned, in fact, that that reservoir, all three and drowned were either a relation of mine or friends. Three kids drowned in that same reservoir. One of them was uh, my uncle's son and two other friends of ours. But anyway.
That father when? Absolutely for sure.
They weren't believers, they had nothing to turn to. He just went for sure. If they put him in an institution, they let him home for a while. Tribute to the family.
What's that? But all for you and I, You're on those who are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. We have someone, we have a great high priest. And remember the garments of a high priest and how that on those two shoulders, those Onyx stones with the names of the children of Israel, 6 on 1/6 on the other, and then the breastplate with the names of the children of Israel, and then the Urim and the thumb. Just how they worked, I do not know, but they gave wisdom and determined to the high priest. And I believe it was Mr. McIntosh.
Who made a comment something like this? Can we not trust the Lord no matter what comes in our pathway? He is omnipotent in His power. He can change things anymore. He's unerring in His wisdom, He doesn't make a mistake and He's eternal in His life. Can we not trust such a high priest in our circumstances and trials? Here 16 in the appendix.
And the third standard is exceedingly precious to my soul. We were talking about these hymns where they're so lovely. And I enjoy the fact too, that I can pick up the symbol and sing and just feel that it's, a lot of it is a language of scripture. I don't have to, is this scriptural? Is this accurate? We can hear some things on the radios and different music of the day. And there's a lovely tune on one of the flowery park scene. And then I, I, I was listening to the tune. I wasn't listening to the word.
Of a sudden, the word's gone on me that thou my God did die for me. I said, no, that's not true. God is God cannot die if it just sit down. My Lord had died for me. But so I say there's, there's a lot of things they sing all about the king and my king and, and no, he's the head of the church. He's a bridegroom. He's a king over all the nations and in a, in a deity way, maybe he may be called the great king.
But anyway, here in 16, in the appendix and in that third stanza, what fills my heart with gladness to thine abounding grace? Where can I look inside but Jesus on my face? My all is thy providing. Thy love can dare grow cold. Indeed, my wrecking tide. No good broke down the cold. So, dear one, if there is a trial, if you are passing through it at this particular time.
We would tell you to turn to one and one alone who can sympathize, who can sucker, who can help, who can sustain Jesus himself, Maybe your portion. And then in the second instant, in verse 27, beginning at Moses and all the prophecies founded unto them, and all the scriptures of things concerning himself. Oftentimes we have heard it again. I may have said it myself, I wish I could have been there.
Well.
As I stop and think for a moment, are we the losers because we weren't there to hear that explanation in the scriptures that they have been turning himself her brother's read. When he the spirit of truth is come, he will guide you in the office. He will take up my things and make them known to you so that now, even now we've got the word of God and we've got the spirit of God that indicted those scriptures in dwelling up and consequently as we read.
The Scriptures we have made food to our own souls that Christ is here and there and there again and again. And the Old Testament in Genesis 3, God as it were, begins immediately to begin that. Shall we say a promise that his Son would come. And there in Genesis 3, it's the seed of the woman that should bruise the serpent's head, so that we might say it's a very wide scope of things. And then he calls Abraham out of her Chaldean, and he says, and invite feed to all the nations of the earth, be blessed.
00:25:17
And so the seed of the woman, and now it's a particular line of people, it's the Jewish line, so to speak, or the seed of Abraham. But then in the 49th chapter of Genesis, there's a 12 tribes. And the Lord says, Judah, now thee shall be coming, and Shiloh, and unto him shall the gathering of the people today. And that was the royal line. And so we have a seed of the woman from Abraham, from Jacob. And ending Second Samuel 7, we get it narrowed down. And God says to David, who wants to build him a house, that of his seed he would raise up one, and of his Kingdom there would be no end.
And so can we not see Christ then as the one of whom needs prophecy are all Speaking of, and the the sufferings of Christ that we had before us. So visit the common again. My God, my God, why has God forsaken me in Psalm 22? In Psalm 42, all thy ways and thy billows are passed over me. Psalm 69 I think in deep mire, where there is no standing, the waters are coming onto my soul and Zechariah.
Awaco starred against my Shepherd.
Monster Shepherd and the sword of divine justice was Unchained and found its lodgement in the bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ on the in those three hours of darkness when he became sin for Austin, for the judgment of God, All dear ones, as I say.
Time and time again, all through scriptures, you take, umm, those sons, those first four sons, for example, of Jacob, it was Ruben, Simeon, Levi and Judah. Because I don't see Christ there. Oh yes, you can. Yes, you can. Reuben is a son.
Sending it here. Levi is joined and Judith is praying. Now do I have to give an explanation of them, so to speak? Can you not always get the hint of how Christ is there in Reuben? My son, this is my beloved son, in whom I will be the eternal Son throughout all the ages of eternity that brought joy to my and your life to the heart of God, owned the Son of God when He came here in manhood.
Manifested declared the Son of God by resurrection from among the dead and he opened my ear. Isaiah chapter 50 a heater as a learned all through his pathway. Here he did nothing of his own as it were, but what the Father gave him to do. His ear was ever open to the voice of God the Father as he walked in the evening and depended and confident and then the Rubens and Levi joined and what a marvelous thing we'll never comprehend.
The fact that in that basin that is his Manger, truly man, body, soul and spirit and yet God joined in one and we can't dissect and we don't dare try to dissect the person of Christ, but like our next one there, Julian. He's worthy of all our praise. We just praise and worship and adore praise worthy of it all. We don't try to dissect and get into the arc as it learned and it distinguishes it where those in nature. We just look along the door.
You know, we could just go on on now with this subject and then all the scriptures.
Christ is there, but let's move on and we'll take this next one in verse 36.
Jesus himself still admitted our brother's already touched on the this and how lovely if Jesus in the midst of John 18. He was in the midst there on the cross of Calvary. There was a thief there and thief there and all the marvels of God graced both of them reviled at the beginning didn't make it, but then grace wrought in the heart of one of those things and he said that we he confessed his own sinfulness. We might say we're here indeed justice. We're getting what we deserve, but this man has done nothing in this.
He infected sinfulness. He confesses the Lord Jesus sinlessness.
And then he does what's necessary for salvation in Romans 10 to thou shalt confess with thy mouth, Jesus as Lord, even thy heart, that God brings you from the dead, thou shalt be saved. He says, Lord, Remember Me, I promise in my King. And so there was salvation God for that man, but the other one perished, the other one perished, went out Into Darkness, and it'll be darkness forever.
00:30:05
Well, Jesus was in the midst on the cross, and now we're two or three are gathered under my name.
Again, I'd like to develop this a little bit more, but I'm going to stop right there and just say this is Jesus in the midst only on Lord's Day morning.
You know if you want different blood pressure, we have occasionally.
Visit around in different meetings.
And if you go on Lord's Day morning?
Say there's 40 in fellowship. It might be.
And if they have a reading reading on Tuesday, you might see 20 and they have a prayer meeting on Thursday, they might be dead.
Maybe not that great of a radio in difference, you know, but.
My brother's saying, you know these things should grip our souls. We're two and three are gathered under my name. There am I in the midst and each assembly meeting to the eye of faith, the Lord Jesus is there Every time the assembly calls a meeting at the park, the Lord is in the midst. I want to be there.
If I'm sick, if the work situation is as such that I can't get out of it, there's there's, you know, there's some reason. But if, well, I don't wanna be a thumbing on a meeting Christian.
The Lord is in the midst of our souls and all of the assembly meetings and a desire to be there and with the eye of faith and joyous presence. And know that one day, according to our next verse, the Lord Himself shall be sent from heaven with a shout, with a voice for the Archangel and the dead in Christ. Arise first, then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the class to meet the Lord in the air.
So shall we have a beep with the Lord comfort one another to these words? Where are we? How close, how near to the assembly shell?
In Daniel, here's the image, the head of gold babbling, It's come and gone. Vito Persian Empire is off the scene. Alexander and the Grecian Empire is off the scene. The old Roman Empire, the Eastern and Western division, it's off the scene. And we're down to the 10 toes of the image and at that 10 toes. Then he sees this stone cut out of the mountain without any hands.
And it comes down and it smashes that inning. It becomes that great mountain. It fills the whole earth. We're down to the 10 toes, as it were, and the nations of the Europe and that common market now maybe its final stage, but we're that close. The Lord comes before them was up.
The revelation two and three emphasis Smyrna, Pergamus, fire tire or Roman Catholicism coming on the scene. TARDIS, a Protestant Reformation, the Philadelphian state of things related to see it with all of its modernism. We're down at the end. We're down at the end In Matthew chapter 25, the midnight cry goes out. There's a little interval. He comes and the wise go in.
To have the oil, The others are left out, the door shut.
I say, where are we here? One in God's word.
Cannot our souls really be and momentarily expectation that at any moment?
The one who helped us and gave them so for us will say, Arrive my love, my favorite, and come away. Then we shall be where we would be, and we shall be what we should be. No more. To view thy chosen few by selfish, by divide, the faith of God, every one of them fully conformed.
To the image of Christ, both physically and morally, to go in, to go out no more. And as we mentioned earlier, the Lord Jesus, he likes to serve and he's going to minister to us the joys of his Father's heart and home forever and ever. All of our hearts might indeed be high, and that the Lord Jesus Christ himself might occupy and fill our hearts and our God.
Just look for a few moments. Left John. Chapter 6.
It's not in chapter 6.
00:35:10
The 44 liters.
No man can come unto me except the Father which hath sent me. Draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, and they shall be all thought of God. Every man that hath heard can have learned of me. Come up under me.
And passing on to the uh.
5050 Third verse Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye the flesh of the Son of man, drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life. And I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
My flesh and drinketh my blood.
Dwelleth in me, and iron Ham the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father. So he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
This is that bread which came down from heaven. Not if your father did eat manna and our dad eat a eat of this, of this bread shall live forever. These things that he and the synagogue asked, He taught in Capernaum. And he therefore of his disciples, when they heard this, that this is a hard thing, who can hear it? When Jesus knew himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, A Thistle fend you.
I don't know if you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before. It is a spirit that quicken us. The flesh process nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are light. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except if we're given him of my Father.
From that time many of his disciples went back and lost no more with him, and said Jesus, unto the 12 Will ye also go away? And Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life, and we believe in our sure that thou art that Christ, that the Son of the living God. Jesus thanks and said unto him, And when I chosen you, 12 and one of you as a devil.
The faith of Judas Iscariot, the son of climbing, for he it was that should betray him.
Well, I thought of this, our brother mentioned it this morning and it was also mentioned in prayer in the later on. The flash profit was nothing. How the Lord was leading his disciples to realize that they must have their eyes upon him. Brem, I believe the Lord is bringing us all to that point too. So we must learn that very important, that very needed lessons that we have to have him before us.
Tells us here that he was a true Brad that came down from heaven, and then he sat in his 44th verse. No man can come unto me, except which except the Father which has sent me, draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day. Every one of us must acknowledge, even in our salvation, that it was a problem work of God. Not one of us in this company this afternoon.
Would belong to God but belong to the Lord Jesus. It would have to be the God in his sovereign grace. Pick this up. Oh how they have to humble us and make us realize our own nothing of brethren. It's only because God in his wondrous grace brought us to him. And then it says in the 45th verse it is written in the prophets and they shall be all proud of God. I believe that's a very important thing because.
We spoke this morning about feeding upon the Word and I believe it is very important because we can listen to things that are said in this meeting and in other meetings. We can get a great deal of head knowledge, but it's only ours as it's taught to us by God himself. They shall be all taught of God. We can say sometimes you can say to the young people they don't want you to go away and say, well brothers, so and so said that.
00:40:00
If you can say, well, the Lord showed me something, then that would be very nice. And so it is. We can listen to things that are said in the meeting. We can receive them because we have confidence in the brother who may have made the comment. But it's only ours as it's taught to us by God Himself. He makes the truth good in our souls and He wants us to be willing. He says any man will do his will. How if any man will know that? If any man will do his will.
He shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God and whether or whether I speak of myself. God is not just seeking to increase our knowledge of divine things. He's teaching us those things that will make Christ more precious to our hearts, that will give us a deeper desire to live in this world according to His will, and so on. These meetings appear ready here. It's only what God by his Spirit.
Reveals to your soul that really becomes yours and gives you the power to walk in US. And so then the Lord goes on and speaks of.
And the 53rd verse and Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, except you need the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. You know that there's a system that teaches that this refers to the sacraments when you know the sacrament is only I remembrance, remembrance, the Lord's body given.
Of his bloodshed. But what the Lord is Speaking of is that it's only as we make the death of Christ our own that we are really is that is the reason he says eat my flesh and drink my blood is because as long as your body is sustained with the blood in it, you're alive. But when the blood is separated from the body, that's death. And so it's appropriating.
Price in death.
That give life to the soul. Many people believe in Christ as a good man that walk down here in this world. But if we're going to be brought into the family of God, we need to realize that Christ died for our sins, That he shared his precious blood.
The remembrance of this that we have in the Lord's comfort, but it's the reality of it made good in our soul, that is salvation. And if there's anyone here.
Who has not received the Lord Jesus as your Savior, not seeing him as the one along that process, Calvary or the judgment of God for our sins. And then when that work was completed, the Lord Jesus had Christ. It is finished. The blood flowed from his dead side and learning that we see how that is Christ in death. That is your salvation on mine. So I just say if there's anyone here who's not saved.
So it's a wonderful opportunity today to make Christ your own. You know, eating a thing is how you make it your own. There's a lot of nice food set in front of us at the table by by eating it, we made it our own. And that's what the Lord referred to here. He that he is my flesh and drinketh my blood is making Christ in depth our own, claiming him as our own personal failure, that we have eternal love.
And then he goes on to say, so even though he defeated me, even he shall live by me. What's the things of that our Christian life? Well, we have a little bit of it this morning. It's feeding upon Christ. It's earning more of him through his word. It's a wonderful thing that we pick up the word of God that he is in Christ reveals to us from the Scripture as the Lord Jesus went with those two and the road to Emmaus, it says.
He expounded unto them in all scriptures the thing.
So may I say it's a good thing to make it a habit when you're reading, reading the word of God. Just let clients be Christ. He's presented to us on every page. Sometimes said the Bible is a history of two men. The 1St man a complete ruin has by one man spin entered into the world, and death by sinful death passed all men because all his sins. And don't we see that?
From beginning to end we see the heart of man betrayed, unchanged, He brought before us in the Garden of Eden, reaching out before the forbidden fruit. And the right to the very end should see man in his natural faith, not receiving Christ and losing his heart, but the Lord revealing himself in his personal response. First man because of the earth early. The 2nd man is the Lord from heaven.
00:45:26
So we came down here to do his own will, not the will of him. That's thinking you and I sitting upon his right. When we read his word, do we speak to get a little more applied? So I'm told the story perhaps is very repeating about man who is very busy in his study. And the little girl kept coming in and laundering him, talking to him, and he wanted to have a little bit of peace. And so he thought of monopoly idea and he opened his priorities and sold out of a piece of.
Old map that he had and he said out here, here, put it together. He thought this would really take a lot of time for that child to put that map together.
You know, the child discovered something that he hadn't done on the other side of the map was a man's thing. So she didn't work it from that. She didn't know anything about geography or road map, but she worked it from the other side and in a few minutes why she was dead.
He expects to be at all enough, but he worked over all perfectly together. Plenty of people have difficulty understanding the scriptures because they try to put together what they can't understand apart from the Spirit of God. But when they see that divine hand and inspiration, when they work it as it works and God decides, we see it in all the scriptures, the things concerning himself, every piece properly together.
Because you saw that hand overall, may we see that hand in scripture? Another thing that was sometimes said, you can test any doctor that's presented to you. I just asked him one question. Does this line of teaching exalt man that is exhaust Christ? You'll find that the basis of every false teaching is something that gives glory to man.
And you'll find the the so I think everything that is the truth of God. It puts you high in our ways, right? Everything is perfect. That's what it tells us in John 16 it says.
There it says OK, we should read it.
On the 31St and the 16th of John, albeit when he's a spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth. We shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he see, and He will show you things to come. He shall glorify me or and He shall receive of mine, and show it shall show unto you.
He glorifies Christ and He leads us into all truth.
Because the proof is wrong, exhaust and glorifies Christ. So he says he doesn't even he shall live and find me. I say again, it's appropriating Christ in death that is salvation. It's feeding upon Christ as revealed to us in the Word, that we grow in the things of God and it's what we need day by day. And we will show you things to come. Only Christian has an intelligent outlook.
I'm going to see what's going on in the world. Think of a wise man of this world. You don't know what to think. They see the breakdown of everything, even the very environment. There's no concerns about everything. Who is? The mother has an answer, The one that believes what God has said. He tells us what is coming. We can look into the future with absolute confidence. We expect things to get worse, but we know that there's one and we're going to set everything right. And we wasted time.
And what we see in the movements we're making is just God working towards this Lord of them. When the earth is full of the knowledge of the laws, the waters covered with the when Christ has his rightful place, Edith, Edith, me even he shall live by me.
Says here then in the 60th verse, many therefore his disciples, when they heard this, they said this is a hard thing.
00:50:03
Who can hear it? Oh, that is, they didn't want the truth of God. And we find the man naturally rejects the truth of God. Moreover, I'll say this, that the flesh, even in Christians, will resist the truth. For as we had this morning, the old nature is unchanged and unchanged. All those horrible things that we read about in our chapter this morning are in every one of us, if we don't judge.
They're right there.
And so the flesh profits nothing.
So the Lord said in the 63rd verse, it is observed that quick enough, the flesh profit of nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, they are life. What we often have difficulty in understanding the Word of God because the flesh is at work. Is that true? I've often said I believe the gospel, the Bible is written for a willing heart.
The Bible isn't written like a lava. It's written for willing heart know if you're writing something in legal matters, you have to cover every point carefully. But if you have somebody that loves you, you don't believe in killing every detail. You just simply make a request knowingly understand it. And David said, oh, that I had a drink of the water is the best we have. He didn't say I want somebody to go and do it, but they were hurts there that we found it.
They eat, they they realize that he thought it was a difficult thing, but their hearts responded and they risked their lives to draw the water for him. Is there some birds you're having a difficulty above and I'm having a difficulty above? Perhaps the reason that we're arguing reasoning is because our hearts are not willing to do this. Any man will do his will. He shall know of the doctrine.
Whether I speak with God or whether I speak of myself. Another verse in Philippians 3 says. And if anything, you'd be otherwise blinded. God shall reveal even this unto you. I asked you this question, Is God willing to make known his mind and will to human me? Yes, if there's any hindrance. I love God's part. It's on our part, Oh brother, and as we think of what the Lord has done for us.
We think it is wondrous love. Doesn't it constrain our heart? SO wants to know His will and to do His will so that we can please Him with Him a little bit sometimes, and we may in some small degree return. I love again.
Then of the Lord spoke these words it says in the 66th verse. From that time many of his disciples went back and walked no more with them.
Why? Well, I believe it was because you said your brother commented this morning. The flesh crosses nothing. We'd like to hear the flash a certain place, not only in our personal lives, but even in spiritual things. We tend to like to give the plush complex.
That's the question. What goes on in Christmas is an appeal to the flesh. But I am spiritual things. The flesh process nothing. The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are right.
So the the Lord was giving them a straight line.
That young man that our brothers spoke up this morning had got a great knowledge of the word. He might have felt very popped up very proud that he knew quite a bit. But the Lord Jesus said, the Lord Jesus said, the man thinketh that he know of anything. He know of nothing yet as he ought to know. I believe that simply being said in learning the truth of God doesn't humble. It isn't learned in the right way.
How could I learn about God's love? How could I learn about the character of God? How could I learn about the truth of Christianity without being humble that he should pick up a family name and bring me into such a place of office? The truth of God humbles us and it exhausted, puts him in the right place. But what did Christmas become? Where the brown used to say Christmas doesn't have become a vampirina.
Where a man's thrives belongers to himself, isn't it true to her? Read a couple of books that you don't have before the book begins. A little write up about the person who wrote the book and the degrees he got service to the abdomen's life. And there's a little blow for man before you even start the book. Thankfully, many of the precious books that we know of ministry and all we see is initial and overall about the manual.
00:55:25
Why? Because the truth of God is in our right place for nothing. We're just we're just instruments that have the privilege of telling out that which exhaust the Lord Jesus Christ. Many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him and said Jesus unto the swath. Will he also go away?
Someone has said he didn't say. We'll have to make a little plan. We'll bring these ones back.
And it's not only now he asked for one to remain for he also all right, Reverend, we are tested, but he also go away and he's lost many have lost loved ones. They relax, right. They should feel it. What the Lord says would he know what to go away. My brother used to say your family in a long time. No, we haven't reached out.
We looked at very, very important.
Why am I there? Would you also go away?
I see answer Peter gave. He said that Lord, to whom shall we go? Where should we go? But to whom shall we shall we go? And you and I truly gathered to Christ. Are we there because we believe that the Lord is in the midst, and that He has got in His own around himself?
Well, the first gathering around the Lord was in the stable, wasn't it? And the Lord Jesus was born and.
Shepherds went to see where he was. It says it's on the Bay, it's widely closed, flying in danger, nothing very attractive. What's the time of the Lord? That was everything. They saw him and their hearts were filled that they went back rejoicing and talking about what they had seen. Could they talk about a nice building, a nice crowd of people?
No, so they could talk about one who was there. How did he come down in the person? That's what made him everything to them. I'm sure it's about a dying day. They never forgot that glorious life, the Lord's glory there. And to whom shall we go? Thou hast the word of eternal life, and we believe in our sure must be persuaded of the truth in your own soul, if any of us are floundering or not sure.
We're going to be tested more and more. Why am I there? Have a nice gravity well. They are nice friends. Be relevant. We love all of us.
Tested us and whether you're there because the Lord is there. You know, I used to puzzle why the Lord answered Peter in this way because in the 16th chapter of Matthew and he said sour to Christ the Son of the living God. The Lord said to him on that occasion, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood hath not revealed unto these of my father which he had made.
These no wonderful answer and he told him about I will build my church.
Why'd he ask you a whole different way on this occasion? I believe this doesn't the Lord, the real things appears, appeared here. If you're here because I'm here, then don't look at the crowd. There's another disappointment to him, he said.
Have not I chose you 12 and what you the devil If you think you're remaining with a perfect life, you're going to be like.
They have to be there because the Lord is there because they have 100 disappointments if you're looking at me or anybody else. But if you're looking at the Woolworths and you're there because the Lord is there and that's he'll keep you because that's what's gonna make him. Haven't the street of gold. Not the case for Pearl, not the glorious companies that are going to be there, but the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb. Thank you all in that little.
01:00:12
Portion of the 5th chapter of Revelation.
Was December the crowd that number of believers and angels on the mystery of the throne Lamb that had been played he was the better Oh my God for being chested. The Lord is allowed against to come that tested every one of us and we're going to be tested more and more because.
Things go down nearer to the Lord's coming, but he's going to call his own way. We can expect the enemy to attack more and more because he doesn't want to see.
And your personal life and mine, the manifestation of the life of Jesus and he doesn't want to be in this world. A group of people who are dead for no other reason around the Lord Jesus himself and to see no man save Jesus only I say again, if you say, oh the storm is over, it's not over. We're going to have difficulty in the world. We shall shall have tribulation. If you have good cheers have overcome the world.
And so as we wait that glorious day, it's kind of why we can count upon the Lord. I think what John said with companions.
In tribulation and in the Kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ.
Luke 24, Ezra 8

Under the house are gone.
1St 31 Then we departed from the river of the Hava on the 12Th day of the first month to go into Jerusalem, and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
And then we came to Jerusalem, and above there three days.
Now on the 4th day was the silver and the gold, and the vessels weighed in the House of our God by the hand of Marama the son of Uriah the priest, and with him was Eliezer the son of Phineas.
With them, with the truth about the son of Yeshua and Noah Daya, the son of Bindui Levites by number and by weight of everyone.
Along the way, was written.
That's fine.
Like to look at one more burst in the first chapter of the book?
Verse 8.
Because they have 4 verses but one little section.
Even those Speaking of the vessels of the House of the Lord, even those his Cyrus King of Persia, bring forth by the hand of Mithridat the treasurer, and numbered them unto Shesh Bazar the Prince of Judah, And this is the number of them 30 charges of gold.
1000 Chargers of silver.
9 and 29.
30 basins of gold, silver basins of a second sort 410.
Other vessels.
1000 All the vessels of gold and silver were. 5400 All these bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon.
Come to Jerusalem.
Look at the end of verse 9.
9 and 20 nines.
Are you ladies who have sets of things?
Know that you don't have 30 of this and 30 of that or you don't buy them that way. At any rate, 30 of this and 30 of that and 29.
But I don't think that it's letting the imagination go at all because this is a divine record and attention is called I believe in this record, to the fact that someone lost a knife.
Someone lost a knife.
I believe that there were 30. I believe this were sets of 30.
If you're reading.
I'd just like to call attention to whether that everything that God has committed to, and He's committed very much to it. We are responsible both for the number and the weakness.
I don't want to say an awful lot. I don't want to say bring in a lot of extraneous thoughts. There are many precious things that one could bring out of a chapter like this and these portions that we that we've looked at together. But the thought that I believe that God would lay upon our hearts this afternoon, upon your heart and mind is this. We have an awfully great responsibility for the truth that has been committed to us.
Precious things.
And there's going to be a weighing in time, my beloved brother and sister.
00:05:00
We are going to have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ when we get home.
And God will call us to account for how we have dealt with the truth that has been committed to it. It is God's truth, brethren. It is not ours. We have no right to compromise either as the number or weight.
With that which God has put into our hands.
And I feel the weight of it as I get closer and closer in the natural way of speaking to that weighing in time.
And I begin to think it more and more about that moment when I will have to give an account to the Lord for what I have done with that which has been committed into my hands.
It may sound generous when we say, well, we don't need that one night, you know, it's not that important. We can give it up. God records that there were only 29 knives.
The one who lost it.
I am sure will feel that loss.
Hold that fast which thou hast.
And that's connected immediately before that with the wonderful promised, and yet the solemn behold.
It won't be long as beloved president.
When we're going to have to give it count to how we have dealt with the truth of God.
It's a wonderful thing to think of the Lord's coming.
I'm afraid sometimes the reaction with this rather than a bright and blessed hope that is we get down under things and we do. Oh the Lord, thank, thank God the Lord is coming. I can't hold out much longer. I'm sure that's an aspect of it that's brought out in in.
June where it says looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ of eternal life. I enjoy the remark of Brother Bill Bothwell's many years ago in a reading meeting in Woodbridge. Brother Phil was a very is a very brother with his words.
He doesn't say much, but when he says it, it carries weight with it.
And we were looking at that portion in June about the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And he says, I believe, brethren, that it will be an emergency when he lists this out.
I'm just silencing the greetings one by one with reverence again to knock their heads. Little did we realize that 20 some years ago or more what kind of an emergency we were going to begin.
I suppose.
You said you couldn't get any worse than it is now.
World, why are from God our Ignatius the Blessed of God, having given up the knowledge of God and returning to their Pagan roots?
And.
Everything seems to be crumbling.
Did you ever watch the breakup of the ice in the spring? What looks so solid all of a sudden just becomes mushy and just disappears. And I almost spent sometimes.
The character, the testimony of those gathered in the name of the Lord, that it's like the mush.
And the spring.
At least what? I don't know if you use that expression in tentative, but sometimes we use it around here. We call it rotten ice, and you don't trust it, do you?
But is it a time for discouragement? Uh.
Time of bright hope, you know.
And is it worth holding on? Is it worth keeping?
The truth of God.
It sure is. A little bit. Rather, it sure is. It's God's truth and it's precious. It's exceedingly precious. Even the copper was precious as gold. I don't think there's anything that we can afford to give up the truth of God. I believe every precious word should be cherished.
00:10:11
I'm not a great reader of FW Grants, but what one read years ago you don't.
Erase out of the mind and that there's one remark I don't want to erase out of the mind, and that is this. If you and I give up any point in Scripture.
We give up obedience as a principle, and it matters literally how much.
That's a very solemn statement, Beloved brethren, we cannot be generous with the truth of God.
It may sound.
Uh, new ways and, and popular to say, well, you know, we can. Well, that's arrogance to hold this or arrogance. Nothing that God gives is to be treated in that way. Nothing of his truth. Everything is present, everything important, both as to the number of things and as to the weight of them. Everything is held to our account.
I think sometimes what an awful responsibility I have.
It was coming some of the brethren last night that when I was first gathered in the name of the Lord Jesus, I had the immense privilege of sitting in the Brooklyn meeting number.
Brother Adrienne Roach were 42 Lords days out of the year.
Talking about this chart.
And I will never forget the truth that was communicated to my soul during those meetings and whatever. And as I look back on it, it was it was like AI was just like a blotter at that time. Oh, what a what a delight it was to to learn the course of time and to see the purposes of God outlined. I don't want to make too much of our brother, but you know, he could cram more into a meeting than most people can cram into two meetings. You know, he just spoke rapidly and he had very quick minds and, and.
I learned this tremendous amount, but you know, the solemn side of that is that makes me more responsible.
I was first gathered in Brooklyn. There were eight brethren in that assembly.
We were over 70 years old.
And some of those names I'm sure would stand out in your memory as they're doing mine, Charles Kohler and.
Brother, see you again, wifey, with those dear brothers that I look back on, from whom I learned so much.
That's a privilege, but it also is a solemn, solemn responsibility because God holds us responsible for the maintenance of the truth that He has committed to us. And we talk sometimes about the immense amount of truth that has been given to us, and we, and I'm afraid that we speak sometimes a little boastingly about it, and we forget the side of it.
That is.
So strong that you're going to have to give an account of that to whom much is given Of them, much will be required.
And we are going to have to give an account to God for what we did with this truth. It matters a little what other brethren think about it. It matters a little what other Christians think about it in that respect. Because we don't have to give account to them. We have to give an account to the Lord. That's where the weighing in is going to be in the House of God.
It was literally in Jerusalem for those Jewish Levites who had to give an account.
There will be, in the presence of the legend, the day of Christ.
Jump in the seat of Christ for you and I will have the weighing in. How do we treat the truth of God?
Now we read that verse that says by the truth, by the truth.
Doesn't say get the truth. It doesn't say study the truth.
I'm afraid that there is a laziness in regard to studying the truth, but I don't believe God ever pushed it simply as studied. Someone called my attention and I knew it for many years and it read that way, but it pulled my attention to why it reads that way. We often quote that verse that says study to show thyself approved unto God, and a brother called my attention to the fact that Mister Darky's translation doesn't say that.
00:15:21
It says you're diligent.
To show thyself approved or strive diligently, show thyself approved unto God.
Studying is something that the flesh can enjoy doing.
But acquiring the truth by purchase is paying a price for what we believe and what we hold on to. And that's what God makes good to your soul and mine.
Why are people today so willing to give up? And I'm appalled. Beloved brethren, I have to speak of it publicly. I am appalled as I see things in writing attacking the truth of God concerning being gathered through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, concerning principles that have to do with the assembly and the maintenance of the order of God's assembly. I've seen it publicly in writing.
And I just hang my head and think what has happened? What has happened?
And some of the ones that are giving it up, and I know this must break Gordon and Pearl's heart, some of them are people that sat there in Honor Lake and listened to Jordan McGraw give it out to us.
Breaks my heart.
Sure does our brothers more than it does mine.
Why?
Willing to sell what we don't pay a price for.
The latest sell but we don't pay a price for.
Men like Darby and Kelly and and Macintosh and Wig Room and, and the host of names you would never know that are not mentioned in chief. Men among the brethren, the host of those dear brethren who came out and took fresh hold of these things, to whom God committed the truth that you and I are treating so lightly. Those men paid a price. Those women paid a price. Some of them gave up titles.
Some of them gave up inheritances in order to, and I'm not talking about just the literal monetary price word, but beloved brethren, is a price. So holding the truth of God, are you willing to pay it? You want it? You want to really have it so you won't let it go? Pay the price.
Whatever the price is, it's worth it. God's truth is worth the price.
I pay such a little price for it.
I was brought up in a godly Christian home.
With a father who didn't know the ground was gathering, but it was wanted to know it.
Struggled and trying to learn it.
Gave us away the heritage that I just practiced blood for, where God's truth meant everything to my dad. Still does. I might say it still does. 89 years old and he's looking on to that weighing in time. He's told me so many times. He says ****. I don't care what anybody says. I'm getting close to the time when God is going to call, call me to account for what I've done.
With his truth.
And everyone of us has to pay a price at some point in our life for the truth.
It may be if we're brought up in it, that God allows a test such as you and I are going through right now where we have to get down on our knees and it isn't going to be by necessarily pulling books off the shelf and quoting James letters to one another. That isn't how we do it.
Get down underneath and say Lord.
I need help.
And I want to go on the path that you marked out for.
We answered that prayer. I'm sure we will.
I never forget.
I've mentioned this to some. Bear with me if you've heard it before. I've never, never forget.
00:20:01
When I got exercise about the grounded gathering, I was about 18.
Brother Paul Johnson had come through the meetings where I used to be a fellowship, and he stirred my soul about the value of false doctrine. I had never thought of false doctrine in a special way, for the Johnson came through, and as a young man I took hold of that. And then I said something's wrong, we're not practicing.
And I prayed and I said, Lord to go nowhere.
And I thought, well, the way to do that is to study the histories of bread. And I have to tell you the shame that I've wasted a lot of time studying the history of the present.
I was just as confused when I got to the end of that because we're very clever at writing letters and then we're and, and it's no better today than it was then. And those men were more skillful than we are at it. And I'm sure that the position can be obscured by careful writing of letters. And if it was on the basis of how you discern those letters, you'd never find out where the truth is. And just the same as you're not going to find it out by getting all the correspondences going around in others now and.
Sorting through it and weighing it and all of a sudden the way you're going to find out here.
Brother and sister.
We got all finished with it, wrote a paper in college or the history of the breading that my Catholic professor gave me an A+ where he said it was the first time he ever gave me freshman an A plus.
I had to admit I knew no more when I got to the end of that, and I did when I started writing it.
And then one day I was reading with 22.
I saw those precious words. Where will that? Oh, I said, that's what's wrong. I've never asked him. I was trying to do it with my own mind and intelligence. As you can, you can.
And I got down and I said, Lord Jesus, werewolf thou.
Where will thou? Where is that place?
And then, with all the joy in my soul, I remembered dear Brother Alan Hadley handed me. Long before he was gathered. He handed me a little pamphlet. One day when we were talking about these things, he reached in his student coat pocket and he pulled out Chapter Browns and grounded Catholic.
Couple of addresses given in 1940, if I remember correctly. I wasn't there, but I remember he had it up on the pamphlet that he gave those addresses, I think in Toronto in 1940. And I read them and I said, Lord Jesus, I want to be where that truth is carried out. I had no idea where it was at the time.
Right, sit down and Hadley, thank you, dear brother, I said. That is the final piece of the pie.
You haven't read that. Young people get a hold of it. It's great.
And God's truth hasn't changed since 1940 versus the early days of Christianity.
I want to be where the truth of the one body is carried out. It's painful. Sometimes it means you have to step out from life long associations.
But it's worth it.
But it's God's truth by the truth and sell it not.
Are you paying the price? Are you willing to pay the price for the truth?
Any man will to know his will.
Any man will to do his will or to practice his will. I think garbage translation gives it. He shout no of the doctors.
God isn't interested in satisfying your intellectual curiosity with the truth.
It's as if he says to you, wait a minute before I give it to you. Do you want it? Do you want to walk in it? You want to walk in it, Brother Bruce? Sure. You too.
But if you do and, you'll know.
And you'll know the doctor.
By the truth.
And sell it not?
00:25:03
All around this, people are selling the truth, and I'm not just referring to this present distress a moment.
There's a that element of that in it too, I'm sure. But in every part of Christendom today, the truth is being given up. This is an important, that isn't important distinctions. Whether the Lord comes in before the tribulation or in the middle of the tribulation, or whether there's any tribulation at all, that doesn't matter. Other things don't matter. Whether it's the righteousness of God in Christ or the righteousness of Christ, that doesn't matter.
Well, those things matter, these things, even the brass as precious as gold. Everything is to be maintained, everything is to be held the one night that just as important as anything else, because everything will be weighed in by number and by weight.
And I just plead with my younger brothers and sisters, get a hold of the truth of God and be willing to pay a price for it and make a covenant with your own soul. Direct your soul.
To seek out the truth of God and to walk it and to do it. That's what every did. He directed his soul to keep him to do, not just to have it up here, but to walk in it. And it costs something sometimes it may cost a friendship. It may cost family unity.
I have to tell you, in my case it's good.
And it isn't just a one time thing in your life. Saddest thing in in modern. My modern experience was when my daughter in California gave up being gathered to the Lord's name, but she got discouraged with the path and got away from the Lord and her soul.
That's sad, but I want to tell you something. I am not going to be given up by the grace of God. I'm not opposed to beloved brethren, but I know that the weighing in time is coming.
And I've asked the Lord with all I call the earnestness, so I know how that we might hold fast. It's only a little left. My grandmother was a my grandmother Borges was a year old lady never gathered, but she loved the board and very earnest Christian. And she lived with us at the end of her life. And I remembered he was quite fond of the Moody and stanky him.
It's a grand old hymn book, a lot of good old gospel hymns in that hymn book. And I got introduced to it by my grandmother and I remember 1 little hymn she loved that she used to sing and I just pictured as a young man.
Was it Hold the Fort, Brian coming? Jesus signals still to you. Wave the answer back to heaven.
By thy grace we will. And I think about him when I see giving up on every side and sometimes do I get discouraged and wonder sometimes if it's worth holding on to. Yes, the Fleck in this would say that and the devil would say that it's not worth it. Why not go out to a broader path? And you know you can have not have all this by dentist exception though you. I have a very dear friend who's an elder, one of the biggest.
Biggest evangelical churches in our area, Long Hill Chapel. Man of God he is because he's trying to hold on to things that he knows are things of God and yet sometimes we eat breakfast on Tuesday morning together and just read the scriptures and and dear brother Bob says to me so often, he said.
All the troubles in our church, she said. You wouldn't imagine.
See it's. It's everywhere.
But when you get discouraged like that, think of this. There's one up there who says, hold on, don't give up.
Hold the floor, he says. I'm coming.
Oh, that's a picture of the old, before the days of electronics, when we used to take those signal flags and then we were in the signal port in the old days, you remember, they used to wave flags with messages on them and get them across that way.
Would you believe that answer Back to the Lord Jesus and say by thy grace we go.
It's worth it, but the weighing in day is coming by the truth. And sell it not behold, I come quickly. Hold that fast. Which thou Nash that no man will take Like crown. There's a crown.
00:30:05
Not that we might glory, that we might lay into his pleasure feet.
They need to help us.
I wonder, brethren, if you experiment with me for the 24th chapter of Local.
Sort of. Quite a number of 30 speak on this before, but I believe it's worth repeating.
In the 24th chapter of Luke, the theme of the chapter is really open. It begins with an open grave and it ends with an open heaven.
That is not my thought. This afternoon I did numbers on my heart. I would like to begin with it at the 13th birds and behold two of them that same day.
Went that same day to a village called the Mayor's, which was from Jerusalem about 3-4 furlongs, and they talked together of all these things that can happen.
While they communicate together and reason, Jesus himself drew near me.
Her eyes were holding that they should not know instead of them. What manner of communication are these?
If you have one to another as you walk in her side. And then one of them, whose name was the old, the office asked him, said unto him, Our Talonia stranger in Jerusalem. Jerusalem has not known the things that have come to pass there these days. And the seven of them boxing, and the seven of him concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty indeed and word.
Before God and all people.
Liverpool.
And beside all this, today is the third day that these things are done. Yeah. And certain women also of our company made us historians, which were early at the suffer crew. And when they found out his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels.
He said that he was alive and certain of them which were with us when septic or found an Even so said are the hymns gone off and he said on the damn old fool. The slow part to believe all of us and prophets are supposed not Christ to discover anything, and you enter into his glory and beginning at Moses and all the prophets.
00:35:16
He founded under them in all the scriptures.
The thing I've been starting to do.
And they do not own the village, whether they went and he made as though I would have gone further and they could scream and say.
Abide with us for this toward evening, and the day is far spent.
And he went in to start it with and they changed the path and he started me with him. He took bread and blasted and graved and gave to them. Their eyes were opened and you and your granny started exciting.
And they said once without a day, not our hearts burn.
While he talks with his bottom weight and while he opens up.
And the Rose off the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the 11 gallery together, and then over with them, saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told her things were done away, and how he was known of them. And break your breath.
So there was a stop for you. There is much in this chapter, but just a few thoughts that I had on my heart.
It's fine here. These two, two of them are saying they went that same day to Billy, called the maid which was from Jerusalem. About 3 scores per month.
We find here, dear brother, these two I believe, that were man and wife that were going away from the center of this and they were sad. They were stuck.
I remember.
Little story that I've heard years ago about love. I really believe these couples were going away in that central flat that they needed to offer.
I'm not. I'm sure this afternoon that each one of us in this room, we need love. It's only the love of our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us in Calgary. It can satisfy that law. So the story that I've heard of my mind was that it's quite a wealthy couple.
They didn't have any children and they decided they were they were their dog, a little boy.
I'm inquired this is a different places where they could go and then visit these children and finally they went to this place. They looked over the children and they found this little boy and they thought they would really like to have them. He seemed a very dear child. They began to tell this little boy all of them would do, for he was a plenty of money to spend and they were different with education.
And the all this nice things that we're going to be far another couple of patients with patients and he said if that's all they have to offer me, he said that's just to stay right here.
He said I want to come below.
Oh dear, we can stop for you. That's what you and I need in these days of difficulty, these days of the process. And here was this couple. There were things that I mentioned before they were leaving.
And we're going to knock the way. And their eyes were holding because they should.
Came to pass by a commune together and reasoned, you know, that's one of the first things when we get away from the Lord, very first thing we do, we start to be.
Because Jesus himself, Jesus himself through me always in his precious, you know, it could make us a terminal vision, these two words this afternoon, Jesus himself.
Here's some self ruining in one person.
00:40:03
But their eyes were holding that they should not know. And he said that what manner of communication are releases you have one to another involvement or sad, and one of them whose name is fear of the dance himself only a stranger in Jerusalem hath not known as things and come to God in their new day. And he said unto them, what things in the sudden very concerning Jesus and Nazareth, which was a prophet Michael and Jesus words.
Before God and all people.
How the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death and crucified them. And then?
In the 22nd work, yeah, certain women also were coming menthastonies which were earliest in septical, and when they found out his body became safe that they had also seen a vision of angels and said that it was alive.
In the 21St February then set it on to them all schools and slow parts to believe all of the prophets have spoken.
I'm not Christ to have suffered these things, and you enter it slowly.
And the game is most and all the problems. Oh.
Concerns and stuff.
Things and turning himself now we probably would wonder how the Lord speaks of all those things that his name was mentioned in the Old Testament. But you know this walk was there some 7-8 miles away that we're walking. I'm not sure exotic miles and he had plenty of time to speak to them and I'm sure I would probably be controlling them about Cain and Hagel.
The story told them about that, that Abel's bringing the lamb, the blood being shed.
And I'm sure he he told about Abraham and Heidi. Abram taking his son is only some eyes we've got willing to offer him up as a sacrifice. And I'm sure too, he might have turned into the 53rd of Isaiah where he was wounded for our kind of dress. He was bruised for our nicotine. The justice of the God's Jesus among.
And by his strength.
And then I'm sure he probably got this for me, the 22nd 69%. But as he falls, he found it onto the ending, all the scriptures, the thing and turning himself.
Many seven of them.
Are are not priced or suffered these things in their entrance, So Senator junior and I of the village whether they went, they made as though he was gone 1St to make him crazy. Oh dear, this afternoon you and I are constrained the Lord's needs. Do we really want to have a blessed man with it?
Do we really want cure our hearts and these difficult things?
As we look around this in this world, there is much to describe, there is much to do it up seven we know if we were to turn into 50, find one and I will overturn, overturn, overturn. God is speaking in this world today. God is not willing that any should perish, that all should come to return.
God is speaking to this world.
And he's also speaking to his own people and all his treatment regality.
This afternoon.
And they constrain them, saying abide in the Oscars, Lord evening and the day is far spent anywhere in Parliament.
Oh dear, I want to talk to you. I think you need to as much as anyone here. So how how we need to constrain the raw key?
00:45:02
And if we do?
For both houses he will come in with our English, he will come in this party with us. He went in to carry with us, and they came to pass. As he stopped me to send. He took bread and blessed and break and gave to them, and their eyes were open, and they knew. And he advanced her to himself. So I wondered just to take a moment.
I wonder in this room.
Day the large numbers are here. I wonder if there's anyone in this roof that died another little you know if we're no don't belong to the Lord Jesus Christ if we never accept his own Savior. We are blind to these things that are in a word of God. We've kind of turned the 26th of August to compare that out and we're not only blind.
And we're bound. We're bound with the better of Satan.
I know again it says the knife, of course, that the Knight of Parsons.
The time.
So the Lord's coming in every way one the Lord come and take his own view of himself, the Lord himself. Again, we get there. He's not going to send an Angel, not going to send someone Michael, but the Lord himself in the sense of heaven, because the voice of the Archangel, the trump of God.
The dead in Christ arise first.
Then we, then we with our lives and remains to be caught up together.
So if we ever be with them all, rather do we really believe that? Do we really believe that the Lord would might come today? I remember my mother used to get a little paper way back in the Presbyterian Church and it was a little article in the book. This preacher had had spoken on the Lord's tongue.
After he finished he went around different ones and he said when you think the Lord will come today? They said they didn't. He said in such an hour as you think now if some of my problems. Well, we read here gander eyes were open and they knew and he vanished out of their sight and they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within?
While he talked with his bottle of weight and while he opened through us. Oh dearly.
Smile is dark it's afternoon and each one in this room that their heart was burned within their hearts would burn within what what happened after their hearts burned and it says they rose up the same hour and returned to university that found 11 gathered together.
Saying Lord is risen, He appeared to sign up and they told what things were done in the void and how he's known of them. In breaking the threat, God often thought, you know, this was a meal, this wasn't the Lord's Supper.
This was a meal, and the Lord took the bread.
And I've been done years ago.
It probably didn't have a nice handy and he broke. He broke the bread and hugged his feet. The 1000 nails.
She saw the nails. He was known of them in the breaking of bread.
But the 7th of the 33rd verse, and they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the 11 gallons.
In that couple that they traveled down the road and wondered about all these things budging down the road there and wondering about it all. And here the primary turning. Do you think they'd caught you on the road as they go back? Oh, I'm sure they're just just going smartly. Possibly because it was half the time. Half the time when you advise that it is, we need to go away.
00:50:11
And all of it has met the Lord Jesus.
I know this afternoon hearings again, if there's anyone here in this room who's never met the Lord Jesus, and if there's anyone who has become cold and gotten away from the blessed world, we pray that your hearts will be warm this afternoon, be drawn back. You've returned to that place of life. You know, there was this afternoon. We knew of some.
Who blessed, who left this place?
That earthly people, the Jews, had a place not in every place, but in a place where the Lord has stopped people.
And then again we read this morning and they said, how would they? How would they know the place? And it said, there will a man meet you, guard your pitcher of water fall in. We know in those days Manchester under this man was a picture of the Holy Spirit. And all may the Holy Spirit, we pray that the one that have been drawn aside to the whole Spirit was drawn over.
Draw back to that place. God still has a Center for sure.
Gather together in my name.
There am I in the midst of them, Not for sure if we come together for two or three hours, gathered by the Holy Spirit together.
They're not in the mid then. And when they got back, what did they tell? They told. Lots of things were done.
Always depression if we're living here, the Lord Jesus and enjoying his company. This is trying to tell others about law, God's law, the task of knowledge that your love of God.
I'm I'm happy those two must have been when they got back again with their brethren. Enough in US, please. The Lord would choose to faith they won't take up a lot of time.
This is a verse at the end of the chapter.
In the 51St verse.
Pepin Burns, and you blab them out as far as the destiny. And he lifted up his hands and blessed them, and he came to God hardly blessed them. He was pardoned for them and carried up into heaven.
I'd like to read it first.
And I connection with this.
Good.
First Doc 10 words while it looks that fast towards heaven, as he went out to hold two hands to the bottom of his white affair, which also said he had Galilee.
Why stand ye gazing up into heaven?
The same Jesus, The same Jesus.
Which is taken off from the original heaven. So so come in like man as your kids go in the heaven. Here's I've enjoyed this. How did he leave this world? He left the hands up and there was all upon the Lord and spin away in being our high priest and his hands are lifted up for us and how is he going to come back? He's going to come back.
To hands up with him.
OK oh what a a practice savior we have there was this afternoon can't help us speak with a letter and got some dear brother not for long ago said brother don't he said go on the main thing is to go don't turn down go on there is this afternoon Will you pray that each one in this room.
Could find that a piece of the joy that cannot be found anywhere else.
Only did not let it work and not but the Lord is the same woman. The water that I could give you to be in you.
00:55:01
Just look at John.
Two.
John 4 verse 10 Jesus passed in December or it's our newest to get to God in two days necessity. Give me the truth that would have asked of him and he would have given me living wallet. The woman sat on him, Sir, there was nothing to draw with him. Well indeed.
When then I saw that living was in the 13th for these thousands of seven, whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again.
But who's one of the drinking of the water that I forgive? November 30th, the water that I sent you shall be in him as well. And water spring up in the river lobster. But Oh my loving Jesus.
They are coarse and in the closing days of God's grace, the end to know earth is to be feasting on the land and shrinking of that water, that well that never runs strong.
