What peaceful scene this is, as the deer rest quietly the woods! Any of us who have watched these graceful animals have marvelled at the way they cam jump over fences, and leap, over any stumps or stones that are in their way. All God’s creatures are so wonderful!
But even the animal creation has suffered through Adam’s sin in the garden of Eden, and they live in constant fear. Notice how the deer in our picture are watching and listening lest some enemy should approach unexpectedly. God has given them this sense of danger, so that they can make thu escape. Boys and girls have enemies too; not so often trying to take their lives, but enemies of their souls. There is a verse in Mark 8:3636For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36) which tells us the value God places on our souls. It says, “What shall it profit a man, if he shall fain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Yes, they are worth more than the world and everything in it. How watchful we should be that we do not allow any enemy to rob us of such a priceless possession.

Last of all there is the devil (Satan) who is always trying to lead us into temptation and sin, and keeping sinners from taking the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. God alone can deliver us from the power of these great enemies, and our only place of safety is “in Christ”, God’s beloved Son.
Satan may be whispering in your ear now, saying that there is plenty of time to be saved. Are you going to listen to Satan, the great enemy of your soul, or will you listen to the loving voice of He Lord Jesus who died for you? He says,
