MAT 26:40-41
40
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:40‑41)
What, could ye not watch with Me one hour?
Matt. 26:40, 41

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:40‑41)
The Lord Jesus was at the worst crisis of His life on earth - facing the forsaking of God while He was punished for sins that He did not commit - our sins. With the cross just hours away He asked His three closest disciples to pray with Him. They fell asleep. But He did not gripe at them. Instead He asks again for them to watch and pray. How easily we become distracted. As we remember Jesus in His death today, let’s be careful to “watch and pray.”
