Weeping

And when He was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it.
In this verse we get a close-up view of the heart of the Lord. He looked out over the holy city Jerusalem and wept. He wept at the cold indifference and unbelief of His own people. He wept because there was no holiness there, just an outward show. He wept because as God He knew what the future held for His earthly people, and terrible times lay ahead. He wept because He knew that they did not know who He was and that they would eventually totally reject Him. We have a Savior who knows what rejection is like. He wept because of it.
