If the Lord Jesus had not left His home in heaven to redeem sinful men, there would be no hope for the human race. God could not have sin in His presence, and all men are sinners. The Lord Jesus came into this world to lay down His life as a sacrifice for sin so that the sinner can be set free from judgment. Now God can righteously forgive those who trust in His Son as their Saviour. The debt we owed has been cancelled by faith in His precious blood.
The Lord Jesus said that He came “to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work” (John 4:34). On the cross He said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). Now God can offer salvation free “without money and without price” (Isaiah 55:1) to whosoever will.
Those who know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour are very thankful that He came into the world. But He is coming again - not as a lowly man to serve, but as a judge (John 5:27). How sad it will be to reject Him as Saviour and then meet Him as Judge.
