Concise Bible Dictionary:
The present earth and heavens will be destroyed and changed, and the works of man will be burned up. 2 Peter 3:12. How useless, what folly, for us to rest upon anything here in this world.
Following this cataclysm, there will be a new creation where all things will be of God, and God will be all in all in the creation of God. 1 Cor. 15:28. For God to be in all, there must be purity within and without, which will be the case in heaven and on earth, true of angels and men. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, has made this possible for men. "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29. Every part of the creation will manifest God's character. Not only will He be over all as now, but in all, the entire creation a witness of His character.
The things of the original creation were created by God but were not said to be of God. God's full character was not known until the cross of Christ.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ." 2 Cor. 5:17,18.
How blessed to have our entire being changed into perfection and our hearts enlarged to these astonishing dimensions, to view God in Christ and what He is, which, with the subject of the cross, will be the eternal occupation of the redeemed. The elect angels are perfect but will not be able to sing, "He died for me."
This is almost too much to take in. We have already known of His mercy, love, and grace, and we bow at His feet in worship, adoration, and praise. What we shall see of God will be in and through Christ. "In him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." Col. 2:9. All the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Christ in a human body, the last Adam, "Who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." 2 Tim. 1:10.
