But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort?
Israel’s king David had just received an abundance of gifts to be used in the building of the temple. He was so overcome with a sense of awe that God would allow him to put all this together that he burst forth in praise and worship of the Lord. Then he recognizes his own nothingness in the sight of God. We must always remember who the Lord is and never treat Him in a disrespectful way. Yes, He is our Friend if we have put our trust in Him as our Savior. But He is still our God and we must never forget that. When we approach the Lord in worship, we must come with reverence.
