Abel  .  .  .  brought of the firstlings of his flock.  .  .  .  And the Lord had respect unto  .  .  .  his offering.
Abel had a sense of what was acceptable to God as a sacrifice. He somehow knew that blood had to be shed for the remission of sins. And God accepted his sacrifice. Abel worshipped God in the right way and received a blessing. When we meet together for collective worship, we must recognize in the loaf and the cup on the table the representation of the Lord’s body and blood. This sacrifice is acceptable to God.
