Though the art of spinning was well known to Hebrews

(Ex. 35:25²⁵And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen. (Exodus 35:25); Prov. 31:19¹⁹She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. (Proverbs 31:19); Matt. 6:28²⁸And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: (Matthew 6:28)), the spun product is only mentioned in (1 Kings 10:28²⁸And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price. (1 Kings 10:28); 2 Chron. 1:16¹⁶And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price. (2 Chronicles 1:16)), and in both these instances the word is rather significant of “band” as applied to a troop or drove of horses than to yarn.
