Singing

“Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for He hath triumphed gloriouslyThe Lord is my strength and song, and He is become my salvation” (Exodus 15:1-2).

Singing is mentioned for the first time in the Bible in connection with redemption. A full and complete deliverance had been won for the Israelites by the Lord. As they saw their enemies dead on the sea shore they could sing a song of praise and thanksgiving to the One who, as their God and Deliverer, rescued them from certain bondage. As you gather around the Lord this morning to remember Calvary and what Jesus suffered there at the hand of a sin-hating God, it should cause you to break out in singing songs of deliverance and thanksgiving. Praise Him with your whole heart today. It cost Jesus His life to save yours.

Soon we will sing the song of redemption for all eternity. “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthyfor Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” (Revelation 5:9).
