One Another

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17).

As by friction, one iron instrument is sharpened and polished by contact with another, so we may be a help to each other by interesting and profitable conversation and exchange of thought. A recluse who shuts himself up from his fellow man, and does not seek the counsel and companionship of others is always very one-sided and imbalanced in his thinking and actions.

If you wish to be a blessing to others you must mingle with them so that you will learn and understand their needs and their sorrows, as well as their joys. Among believers in Christ, fellowship one with another is very necessary and extremely valuable, especially in these days of increasing moral and spiritual darkness.

Here is some good instruction in this regard: “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another” (1 Thessalonians 5:11). “Exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). “Teaching and admonishing one another” (Colossians 3:16).
