Dear Young Christian:

“Why are ye troubled” (Luke 24:38)?

Good question, isn’t it? Are you troubled about something today? Are you worried about some situation or difficulty that you may have to face this week? Are you fretting over some dilemma that needs to be settled soon, or a decision that needs to be made in the very near future? On more than one occasion, the disciples were troubled. Here is what Christ told them on one of those occasions: “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid” (Matthew 14:27).

On another occasion, He said: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me … . Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:1,27).

Yes, we have our God, and we have the Lord Jesus, and, if we are fully trusting Him, we will experience a peace and confidence that only the believer can experience and have.

So, we ask the question again, “Why are ye troubled?”
