Psalm 63Part 2

The Soul Satisfied

“My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips: When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches. Because Thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice” (verses 5-7).

To desire God is to have Him. When we long for Him we will be found in His presence drinking at the well of “living water” (John 4:10).David understood this, and had earlier written, “For with Thee is the fountain of life” (Psalm 36:9).

To meditate on Him when we lie down at night is to find true rest and satisfaction for the heart and mind, and it causes us to be able to get up in the morning and go through our day with the conscious sense of His love and protection. His wings give protection as well as the power to rise above the difficulties and circumstances of life. As the prophet later wrote, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
