Cares and Worries

The Lord wants us to release our cares and worries to Him. We are told in the Old Testament, “Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22). And we are again exhorted in the New Testament, “Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7). “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6).

When we entrust every little thing to the Lord it brings a great sense of inner peace to the soul, rest of heart, and joy of spirit. To bask in His love, and to accept each day as it comes, with whatever the circumstances may be, is freedom indeed. Freedom from worry, and freedom from self!

Let’s learn to roll every burden on the Lord, and leave it there. So often our problem is that we cast the burden and trouble on Him in prayer, get up off our knees, and take it away with us again, instead of leaving it with Him. When we leave it with Him, then, and only then, do we learn the truth of the Lord’s own words, “My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:30).
