God’s Lamb
“God will provide Himself a Lamb for a burnt offering” (Genesis 22:8).
Yes, indeed, God has now provided a Lamb. It is the Lord Jesus Christ. John the Baptist, affirmed this on two occasions when he saw the Lord walking here in this world. “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world! … Again the next day after, John stood, and two of his disciples; And looking upon Jesus as He walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!” (John 1:29, 35-36).
The Apostle Peter later wrote of God’s Lamb, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you” (1 Peter 1:18-20).
Let’s thank God today for that Lamb that He has provided for our salvation and eternal blessing.
