Arise and Go
“And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
And he arose and went” (Acts 8:25-27).
The desert may have seemed like a very strange place to send a faithful evangelist whose gospel message was having such great results, as he and others travelled from place to place. But, you see, God had His eye on one man who had tried to find Him and was reading the Old Testament but couldn’t understand it. So, after obeying the order, Philip, out in the middle of the desert, preached the gospel to one man — an anxious soul, an Ethiopian — and he got saved!
God knows what He is doing. When He says, “Arise, and go!” we better listen to the call and do it. Who knows what blessing we can be to one individual? Are you willing to follow the call of God and be His evangelist today? There are many anxious individuals out there. Maybe it is you that God wants to use to bring them the gospel.
