Hard Work
“Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labor shall increase” (Proverbs 13:11).
Hard work never killed anyone! That’s an expression I remember hearing many times growing up, especially from Mother. I guess I did a lot of complaining about chores when I was a boy.
The trouble today is there are many get-rich-quick schemes out there to tempt us not to work, and, more often than not, they come to nothing. In the past few years, I have heard of many people who invested heavily in get-rich-quick schemes — and lost everything. Some lost even tens of thousands of dollars overnight, and some their whole life savings. I know a brother personally who got taken in by one of these scams, and he and his family have really suffered since.
It’s much more honorable to work for what you have, rather than to get something for nothing. God does not encourage laziness in any aspect of our life. All comes from His good hand, but He expects us to work hard, and provide for ourselves. Life is not a free ride! It takes hard work!
