Service “If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be” (John 12:26). Service for the Lord requires obedience and dedication. • First, obedience in worship. We must follow the Lord to the place of worship chosen by Him. “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him” (John 4:23). • Second, obedience in conduct. We need to act just like the Lord did when He was here. “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you” (John 13:15). “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). • Thirdly, service may require that we lay down our lives. We must be willing to give up EVERYTHING for Him — even our life. “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life” (Revelation 2:10). That’s true service.
