Dear Young Christian:

Here is an interesting and thought-provoking quote I saw in a book of short sayings the other day:

“Don’t just take time to pray,

but make time for prayer!”

I had to really think about it to get the message, but here is what I think it is saying:

We can rattle off a standard prayer and do certain works without much time or thought. We can say a short prayer in the morning before we are out the door, and maybe before we fall into bed at night, but that is not really what real prayer is. Prayer is getting into the presence of God our Father, and taking the time to talk to Him from our heart thanking Him for His goodness and love, making requests, telling Him all about our problems, worshipping, praising, etc. Schedule a regular prayer time. For me, it is on my early morning walk, for you it may be a very different time and circumstance, but it is vital to happy, powerful, fruitful Christian living.

 Your Christian Friend,

 Jim Hyland

We would love to hear from you.
