Knowing Instead of Hoping “I hope I am saved.” I have heard people make this statement time and again. But we don’t have to hope we are saved, we can know that we are saved. Christianity is characterized by certainties — not wishful and vague hopes. Let’s quote some verses from three New Testament witnesses that confirm this wonderful truth: The Apostle John: “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13). The Apostle Paul: “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day” (2 Timothy 1:12). The Apostle Peter: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold … But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19). Can you say, “I know I am saved?”I sincerely hope so!
