A Faithful God
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
We need to remember that we live in a fallen world that is tainted with sin and under the effects of the curse, resulting from Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden.
Just because we are believers doesn’t mean we are immune to sin and its effects. But it does mean that we have a faithful God that we can turn to — no matter how difficult the temptation, trial, or test. Our God has promised that there is nothing we face in life that is greater than His power and ability to bring us through and cause us to overcome the difficulty. It may be the temptation of the devil, physical sickness, or just surviving in a wicked world. Remember, His promises will never fail, and He has promised to be with us and to carry us through.
When we do fail, then there is always restoration. David found this in his life, and could say, “He restoreth my soul” (Psalm 32:3). Don’t be discouraged, “God is faithful.”
