Dear Young Christian: Today is called Remembrance Day here in Canada where I live. It is a day of national commemoration for the more than 100,000 Canadians who have died in military service. Inscribed on the War Memorial in my hometown of Smiths Falls are these searching words: THEY GAVE THEIR TODAY FOR OUR TOMORROW In other words, these men and women gave up their lives … their today, so that we could enjoy the freedom and peace of another tomorrow … the present. They made the ultimate sacrifice. There was another even greater sacrifice and victory won for the freedom of humanity. It was the sacrifice and victory of the Lord Jesus at Calvary. He gave His life so that we could enjoy a bright and eternal tomorrow with Him in the Father’s house.As we noted yesterday, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
