The Gospel

“As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country” (Proverbs 25:25).

The gospel is not just “good news” it is the “best news” ever published in this world. We all like to receive good news, but what about the good news, “that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15)?

It always amazes me that people are so eager to read the newspaper and listen to or watch the hourly reports with all the bad news that is going on every day in this world so characterized by violence, corruption, rebellion, and immorality. Yet when the good news of the gospel is presented, they don’t have time or simply don’t want to hear it. Those who bring this good news are often despised and reproached; and, in some countries, even suffer out-and-out persecution. However, the Lord values these bearers of good news, and says, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things” (Romans 10:15)!

Have you received this good news, and, more importantly, have you received the Lord as your Savior? If not, “Repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15).
