Throw-Away
We live in a throw-away society. It seems like everything is disposable, or at best not made to last very long. Our trash bins are overflowing with garbage, and we are always running out to the store to replace something.
But there is one thing we should never throw away or give up. That one thing is our faith in the Lord. The Bibles exhorts us, “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward” (Hebrews 10:35). No matter what the circumstance, or how hopeless and bleak things may seem outwardly, we need to hold onto that inward trust at all times.In the Old Testament, we read of a man by the name of Job, who was going through some very severe trials in his life. He lost his possessions, his family, and his health. His friends then came and spoke unkindly to him. It seemed almost more than he could bear, and yet, through it all, he said, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him” (Job 13:15).
So much does the Lord value our trust that He has promised to reward us for it. Let’s not throw away our confidence in Him. If you can’t do anything else in the trial, just trust Him!
