Wherever I Am

In a desk drawer we were cleaning out recently, my wife and I found a bookmark with the following saying:

“Wherever I am is a good place to start”

Of course this has to do with opening the book you are currently reading and starting where you left off the last time you closed it.

However, there is perhaps a spiritual lesson to be learned as well. Maybe there is one of our readers who is a true child of God but has not been following the Lord of late. Maybe you haven’t been praying or reading your Bible. Remember, there is always a restart button. You can confess it and start again from right where you are. David said of the Lord, “He restoreth my soul.” But he didn’t stop there. He goes on to say, “He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3). In other words, He puts us back on the right way, so we can continue on in the path of faith.

If you have made a wrong stop in your Christian life, don’t be discouraged. Wherever you are, start again, and the Lord will take care of you. He loves you, and wants you to follow close to Him. He says, “Follow Me” (John 21:19).
