On the night of April 14th-15th, 1912, the finest and safest vessel that had ever been built, the “unsinkable Titanic,” struck an iceberg and sank. “The staggering fact,” an editor commented, “is not that the ship went down, but that she went down after fifteen hours of radio warnings, her engines at full speed, her band playing, her passengers dancing and, apparently, nobody caring that there was ice ahead.”
We shake our heads at such neglect and foolishness. More than fifteen hundred lives lost, which made it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. The saddest part about it is that it could have been avoided.
And yet there are many at this moment who are heading for destruction and they seem to have little if any concern or care about it. There is a moment coming when “the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power” (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9). Have you heeded the warnings? Don’t wait until it is too late!
