Morning & Evening

“Thou makest the outgoings of the morning
and evening to rejoice” (Psalm 65:8).

I sat alone one morning,

And watched the rising sun;

I thought about my Saviour,

And all that He has done:

The work He did at Calvary,

His life, His death, His blood,

His mighty resurrection — 

My mind and heart did flood.

I stood alone that evening,

And watched the setting sun;

I bowed my head in worship,

For all that He has done — 

I thanked Him for salvation,

And for preserving grace,

And for the heavenly future,

With Jesus, face to face …

How good it is each morning,

To stop and meditate,

And every evening also,

To in His presence wait.
